This porcelain flower pot with under plate was produced at the Meissen Factory in Germany between the 1890s and 1910. The under plate has a diameter of 7 1/2 inches and the pot measures 6 1/4 inches high and 7 1/4 inches in diameter. The porcelain is quite substantial and heavy. The pot is pierced in the bottom to let water drain. It is hand painted with vividly colored bunches of roses on both sides. There are little rose buds around the edge of the under plate. The rims are trimmed with gold. From my experience, this appears to be a rather uncommon object made by Meissen. They took a utilitarian object and created an elegant flower pot.
