This piece was made in '02 and not used.
His shigaraki(stoneware) pieces are made by archaic way in
old style kiln "anagama" burning red pine wood, so those ashes are turned to natural glaze. Artificial glaze is not used.

Shide "拾得" is a Zen monk in Tang period China, he has been the theme of ink picture mainly together with Hanshan "寒山". They were They had been disengaging from the world and famous for poets. Shide had been cleaning the temple every day, so he was depicted with a bloom.
