Here is a lovely and sparkly Victorian brooch, in the form of a crescent moon on a knife-edged bar. At each end of the bar is a ruby, and in the middle is a cluster of 8 diamonds centered by a pearl. The moon is set with 21 round and cushion cut rubies, and 19 diamonds. The diamonds are set in silver, and the rubies in 14k rose gold. It measures 2” across the bar x 1-1/8” top to bottom, and weighs 9.5 g. or .34 oz. In excellent condition and very Victorian. The crescent moon is symbolic of new beginnings, and the moon of the “female principle,” and intuition.
