Complete portfolio of etchings and drypoints by Sigmund Abeles (USA, born 1934). 1969. This is a collection of works produced mostly in 1966 and issued as a portfolio in an edition of 65 plus 10 artist's proofs in 1969 by Aquarius Press. All 13 works signed by the artist. Abeles is an important 20th and 21st century American artist.

Original oil and encaustic (hot wax mixed with pigments) painting by Steven Clippinger (American, born 1943). 24' by 36". In excellent original condition. Signed "Clippinger" and dated 1978 l.r. Steven Clippinger is a noted American artist who worked in Florida and in California. Works in numerous private and corporate collections, including the Price Waterhouse Collection, Rochester Institute of Technology, etc.

Original marble sculpture by Theodor Mallener (Czech, 1892-1978). Mallener is a Czech sculptor born in Olomouc, Czechoslovakia. He apparently spent part of his life in Germany, where he died (Schwabmunchen, Bavaria) in 1972. He is listed mainly in Czech sources. There was also a sculptor named Mallener who worked in Vienna for the Goldscheider Factory in the early part of the century who may or may not be the same artist. This sculpture is signed Th. Original ceramic sculpture by Tina Rabner (American, New York, 1913-1994). This work depicts two young girls at play. It measures approximately 14" by 12" by 6". In overall excellent condition. Matte finish with polychrome highlights. Signed (incised signature on the base) "Tina Rabner". Circa 1945. Tina Rabner was an entrant in the Robineau Memorial/National Ceramic Exhibitions in Syracuse in 1940, 1946, and 1948 (cf. Art Pottery of the United States by Paul Evans, p.428)...

Original Japanese woodblock triptych by Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) of a Kabuki subject, circa 1852. This work is signed Toyokuni ga and depicts the actors Iwai Kumesaburo III, Ichikawa Saruzo I, and Ichikawa Danjuro VIII in the play: Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari. 3 oban panels, in beautiful color and condition, never framed.

Original oil painting on reinforced masonite panel by Vernon Fimple (American, born 1930). This painting retains its original artist-constructed frame. It is signed "V. Fimple" and dated "62" l.r. It is also titled "Masquerade" on a label which also indicates the original price of the painting ($1250). This painting measures 24" by 30" (29" by 35" in its frame). Extraordinary surrealist painting inspired by the "Garden of Earthly Delights"...

Original white line woodcut (aka Provincetown woodblock or woodcut) by Virginia Bill (USA, 1865-1960), circa 1930. In excellent condition. Archivally matted and framed. This work is signed by the artist lower right and is titled lower left "Portuguese Jewish Cemetery 11th Street N.Y." This is a view of an ancient Sephardic cemetery in New York, or rather of what was left of it after most of it was destroyed by road construction...

Original pastel on paper by Vladimir Pavlosky (American, born in 1884 in Ukraine, died in 1944). This work is signed lower right. It is titled "Hillside" on a gallery label verso and dates circa 1925. Pavlosky was a Boston area artist who was inspired by Sargent and Homer. Provenance: Wharton Fine Art.

Original charcoal and pastel drawing by Wade Reynolds (USA, 1929-2011). This work is in excellent condition. Signed l.r. and inscribed: "For Harry--Merry Christmas 1977". 14" by 18" work alone, 21" by 25" in its gallery frame. Wade Reynolds was a L.A. California artist well known for his striking nudes. His work was widely exhibited: Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, Miami Institute of Fine Art, etc.

Original charcoal-pencil drawing on grey paper by Warren Brandt (American, 1918-2002). Signed l.r. Also inscribed verso: "#11--Warren Brandt--Sisters--Charcoal-Pencil--11 1/2 by 13--$300". Still bears a gallery label from the Louise Himelfarb Gallery in Water Mill, New York. Warren Brandt was born in Greensboro, NC. He lived and worked in New York...

Original woodcut (white pine) by Wendell H. Black (USA, 1919-1972). Titled and numbered 7/25 l.l. Signed and dated "Wendell Black 58 by Elaine" l.r. From the first edition of 25, posthumously printed by Berkley Chappell and signed by Black's widow Elaine. No lifetime edition exists. 11 1/2" by 18". cf. The Lost Works of Wendell H. Black. This woodcut is illustrated plate 11 in this volume.

Original diptych (deep etch on zinc) by Wendell H. Black (USA, 1919-1972), circa 1961. 12 1/2 by 23 1/2 each. Titled l.l. and numbered 7/25. Signed and dated "Wendell Black 61 by Elaine". From the first edition of this work, printed posthumously by Berkley Chappell, and signed by Black's widow Elaine. No lifetime edition exists. cf: The Lost Works of Wendell H. Black, plates 22 and 23. The model in this diptych, probably the artist's wife, is also on the cover of the book.
