Fine over-sized English Regency mahogany burl wood sarcophagus style tea caddy with stylized lion head brass side ring handles and rare pierced sphere feet, matching rich mahogany burl and matching twin tea box lids inside with rare ivory knobs. The "tea chest" or "caddy", which became popular later, derives from the Malay Chinese "kati" which means a measure of tea weighing about a pound and one third...

This late 18th Century, George III fine rosewood double tea caddy is elegantly crafted in the Sheraton style. An outstanding celebration of the understated, (more simple than much later ornate styles) this neoclassical piece displays exceptional rosewood grain and matching rosewood on the double tea compartment lids inside.
