These fine porcelain ewers are made in a neoclassical style with a slightly flaring base supporting a bulbous body whose neck narrows before ending in an elongated spout. Tall dramatic handles are attached to the vase. Rich cobalt blue panels alternate with white ground spaces each having simple floral embellishments surrounded by gilded swirls and scrolls. A lovely Staffordshire pottery inkwell and quill holder in the form of a swan. The wings are painted vivid shades of pink with black and gilt accents. The bird rests on a colorful "confetti" nest. The hole in the swan's back served as the inkwell, while the two holes in the front were to hold quills. This swan is a particularly colorful example.
Origin: England, ca. 1840. Condition: excellent, no damage. Size: 3" x 2" x 3-1/4".

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Doulton Burslem in the 1890s. It is made of bone china and has molded decorations and an ornate handle. The decoration is known as “Spanish Lace”. Fine gilding is accented with raised enamel beading and hand painted flowers. The pattern covers the entire surface of both pieces. The rims and handle are gilded. It has a unique shape and Victorian charm.

A blue and white transfer printed plate with the Boy on a Buffalo pattern - one of the first Chinese patterns to be "translated" by the English potteries and first used by Spode c 1795, soon also by other potters. The specific border used for this pattern adapts itself well to the lobed shape of the rim. Around 1800, unmarked, possibly Spode. Diameter "8¾/ 22 cm. Condition: fine.

A rare, early English flow blue covered entree or casserole dish c1860. This serving piece stands 7" high with the lid, and it measures 11-1/4" x 10-1/2". It has a floral style motif, and it has a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates c1850-60 but it could be of earlier manufacture...
