Very nice poplar Shaker bonnet with a label marking the size as a 5. They were also made in size #6 and size #7. The bonnets were sold by the Shakers in their gift shops but they were not made by the Shakers. This one is in very good condition. It does have a few brown stains at the top of the brim edge, see photo. This is just about as good as you can get for this type of Shaker bonnet.

Turkmenistan Tekke Bokhara Trible Rug, Before 1910, approximately 6' x 4', all wool hand knotted and flat weave like kilim, beautiful tiny Tekke Bokhara designs throughout the entire rug, the tiny knots are so fine and exact, back side is almost like front, all 4 side edges are in good condition, no worn spots anywhere and very clean.

A very nice pair of antique hand knit blue and white cotton socks with a initials at the top. I think the initials are WWF. The stockings are knit with three different weight cotton yarn the heaviest is the wonderful true blue that is the foot and ankle where all the wear is and the area where you want the most cushioning. The lighter blue is medium weight and the white is the lightest where you don't want it to bind. The have been used but not abused...

These lovely linen travel rolls were made and sold in Maine and NH by the Shakers. They are made with natural linen and have red trim. During the winters the sisters embroidered them . This is a pair of linen homespun pillow cases that are more like show towels. The linen is very finely woven, the pulled thread work, borders the top and bottom of the name and date. The embroidered name and date is done in a wool floss and has not done as well with use as the body of the pillow case. Her name is Barbara Wismer, I think, and the date is 1829. There is no question they were used and laundered but they are in great condition with a bit of age related toning in places...

his is a doll quilt with knotted and tied quilting with cotton filling. It is a warm brown and tan color. It has a stain on the under side that looks like rust. It has no rips or tears. It is 15" by 17" and is circa 1890-1900.

Dated September 4th 1832, this lovely needlepoint saying titled "On Virtue" is surrounded with intricately embroidered flowers. In a bird's eye maple frame it measures 19.75" x 16.5", sight size 15" x 11.5". In very good antique condition, the background has darkened some with age (the first 2 photos showing the frame is most color correct.) Please note that the textile is not lighter on the bottom, it is a reflection as well as other light colored reflections coming from the glass.

This early very beautiful Civil War era capelet is a rich reddish brown calico made with the finest cotton fabric that looks like it might be homespun. The workmanship is the best. The capelet is 14” back of neck to bottom and is 10” front down to bottom and 24” spread out. Circa 1860 and excellent condition and Museum quality.

This is what I call a down home or servicable antique pot holder. It looks like a odd apple with a tummy sash. It is sewn nicely but with a childish feeling to it. I am sure it was used but care was taken with it. The loop at the top looks original. It is a very nice naive pot holder from the 1840's. It is 4" by 5". I love seeing these hung.

This mid 19th century folk art crazy quilt is a wonderful mix of richly colored silks and hand embellished surface stitches. The back is a green cotton sateen fabric tied with floss. Eighty seven silk tags create a whimsical border around the entire piece. A wonderful early woman's pocket made from a roller print with the colors of madder, brown and mustard. It is backed with a homespun linen fabric. All hand sewn. The front of the pocket is lined with the same linen homespun and the back. The fabric is fragile in some of the black areas where the tannic acid dye has weakened fabric. A vintage child's pair of kid leather and suede shoes with wooden buttons c1900. These high-side shoes are still soft and supple with only surface creases on the (slightly soiled) leather. The buttons are painted, and the suede soles have a branded 0 on the bottom. They are stamped 0 D660 on the interior, they are 4-3/8" long and 3" high, and they are in excellent condition with no losses, damage or repairs. A nicely made large quilt in the triple Irish chain pattern from the late 19th century. The chains made of small squares of yellow, red and green pattern printed cotton. The double red border is of the same red printed pattern. There are seeds visible in the filling between the backing and the jam side. This pin cushion makes quite a statement. It has wonderful calico print fabrics in soft red, blue and brown. It is 7" square and is 3 1/2" thick and very heavy. You can see that it did have pins stuck in it at one time. It was made to be used. This is the best pin cushion! C. 1880 with some of the fabrics earlier.

A double Irish chain quilt with printed cotton fabrics of red and green chains against a background of black spots on white cotton. The front is turned over to the back to make the edge. The quilting is simple diagonals.

Good colors and pleasing design makes this an attractive quilt.

A beautiful and vibrant chausable set from the mid 18th century, comprised of the chausable, the maniple, the chalice cover, and mat. The deep, rich purple damask of the material is set off by the intricate embroidered orphrey on the chausable and maniple. Even the cover and mat, made of the same damask, have embroidered crosses on them, and are bordered with metallic thread. Overall condition is very good, with some scattered splits and stains.
