Walnut Victorian Corner Bookcase -- In all our years specializing in American Victorian furniture, we have never come across a bookcase like this; it is made of walnut, circa 1880, made to fit into a corner of a room; one side is wider than the other; it measures 71" x 21" on the long side, and 58" x 21" on the shorter side; it is 8' tall, and the bookshelves are 10" deep

An antique Japanese Gyosho Bako (street peddler's chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia). All original hand forged iron hardware. Hinged door opens to 5 inner drawers of varying sizes where special wares were stored. 4 upper rings were used in conjunction with rope to provide back pack support. Unusual back handle was used to assist in lifting the Tansu onto ones back.

A beautiful Edwardian period rectangular side table with a Demi-lune cut out along the center front. The table top has a stylish raised edge around its perimeter. Beneath the top is a cyma cut skirt which centers two long candle drawers on either end. The table is held up by four square tapering congruent legs. Designed to be light weight and portable. Circa 1820 English, this charming tortoise shell sewing box having zig zag patterned string inlay can also be used as a jewelry box. The interior has fitted tray which still has its original compartment lids and the tray removes to reveal another compartment. In very good antique condition, it measures 10” across, 6.75” deep, 3” high.

Made of cardboard, the top decorated with a pearl embroidered flower and owner’s initials in wool, all surrounded by gilt paper ribbons, so-called Dresden trims. Germany, c 1830-40. A Fine and Interesting Lamp. Measures about 19 1/2" tall and 12" square. Very good condition, mica has been replaced. Lamp converted from oil burner, signed on brass "The Juno Lamp, made in U.S.A."

A fine antique walnut corner cabinet with beautiful warm patina - though I suspect that it has been refinished somewhere along the road. Wood shelves; dentil molding; wood pegs still present; brass hinges, and closing clasps added. Double doors top and bottom. The feet have been cut somewhat. It has normal wear and tear of a piece of this age. The cabinet is at least 19th C, but may even be late 18th century...

From our European Collection, a charming Rococo sofa, early 20th century circa 1900-1920, probably French, executed with lovely curvilinear lines true to the style, with hand-carved shell-shaped and floral motifs executed into the wood frame, and finished with an elegant but understated two-tone gold on gold damask fabric. The fabric is not original, but is quite likely a re-upholstery job from the 1950's or so, and has survived wonderfully since then...
