The outside has scrolling foliage and the handle is formed as a flower spray with a flat reticulated top surface. An excellent example of 16/17 century lapidary art and in excellent condition. Rare carnelian bowl with a beautiful deep orange-yellow. The typical Chinese shape is classic, and the capacity is that of a tea bowl. The grinding work is meticulous, the shape is perfect, the Agate has an excellent color which shows shades of color ranging from yellow to orange through transparency. Difficult to date with precision but all these quality criteria seem to indicate a creation from the Qing period. Excellent condition except micro scratches invisible without magnifying glass...

Very fine Chinese antique belt hook carved in the shape of a knot with a butterfly on either end, made of beautiful mottled jade ranging from white to grey to bright blue/green, a silver fitting on the back was added later to convert this clothing hook to a pin or broach.

This is an authentic example from the Qijia culture, dating to 2100-1600 BCE, of a well-known type of ritual axe, known as a "Yue." It measures 4" in length and 3-3/8" at its widest point (10cm X 8.5cm). The surface has a beautiful, smooth polish; the "blade" has a beveled edge and has been sharpened, although it shows no signs of actual use. The large hole has been conically drilled. Two playful monkeys climbing on a large peach, carved from antique agate. Monkeys are commonly depicted in Chinese art as holding a peach as a symbol for wealth and a long life because the word for "monkey" is a homophone to the word for "nobleman". They often call this "feng hou bao shou" which can mean both "crazy monkey clutching [a peach]" as well as "may you become a salaried official and embrace longevity". 19th century

A Chinese jade oval bowl carved in the Mughal style with lobes forming the body , the base with three concentric zones showing leaves and encircling a central flower. The body is thinly carved , the stone is of mottled pale celadon tone. A competently executed example, it measures 2 cm wide, in excellent condition, no breaks no restoration and dating to late Qing period.

A pale celadon nephrite "heart shaped" jade carving, done entirely by hand. The piece measures 4-1/2" in length and 2-3/4" at its widest point. The raised carving is approximately 3/4" in height. The design is of a coiled dragon, as shown in the photos. Evident signs of alteration/calcification in the stone. This is not a modern piece and is guaranteed to be no later than the 19th century and possibly earlier. A genuine and substantial carving, beautifully done.
