This is a very fine pair of Spinach Jade Birds perching on a tree branch that is nested on a carved wood stand. The artisan has taken advantage of the jade skin to highlight certain areas, such as the lightest (celadon) color for their peaks, the darkest (spinach) for their body, and mottle portion of the stone for the birds tails...

The head is carved in a grey stone that I think is limestone, it is harder than marble but it can be scratched with a steel tool. The naive sculpture seems to be made by a craftsman who was not a sculptor or a sculptor of a primitive people. It unquestionably represents a Buddha with his third eye in the middle of his forehead. There is some red pigment left in one nostril and in the corner of the mouth.The appearance of the stone seems very old...

19th century Chinese small carved boxwood architectural panel depicting a Chinese scholar with 3 attendants among pavilions and trees. Must have been part of an altar piece. Wonderful quality carving with piercing and deep undercutting, rich detailing (see several Fungus of Immortality), very pleasant wear and patina. Size 2 3/8 x 4 7/8 x 9/16 inches. This is a rare large chinese porcelain Guanyin statue dating to the Qing Dynasty. The statue is sitting on a lotus base, right hand putting on the front of the chest, left hand holding a bottle. The face expression looks very serious and sincerely. Great item.

A very well carved and inscribed wooden tablet made for use in the family house, on the ancestor´s altar for worshipping of the deceased husband . This â€spirit tablet†has the name of the man, Chun Fa from Lin Prefecture , and the name of the donor, the respectful wife Niang, born Song. In the inside it says that Chun Fa was born in the cyclical year of XianFeng, eleventh month, ninth day =1850, lived forty two years and died in the cyclical year of Guangxu 1891...

18/19th Century Chinese gilt lacquered wood carving of a seated immortal temple statue. There is some rubbing of gilding, chips, peeling of lacquer, stains, cracks, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos). Worth noting is the well rendered facial expression, the hair is still intact in the ears and mustache, and the details in the clothing. Measures 9 inches high.
