His trousers are shaped like tigers' heads biting into his legs, with a gilded belt and tiger stripes. He holds a lotus flower high above his head, supporting a bronze singing bell bowl with gold gilded flowers, butterflies, and vines all around it and raised dots all along its bottom half...

This beautiful elegant lotus is perched on curled stems that make up the lotus's stand. A small bud is tucked underneath, resting upward against the flower. Unusual 1900s - 1910s (late Meiji - early Taisho) small Japanese wooden visiting card tray with inlaid multimetal decoration of a Dutchman standing by a pole, one hand raised to his head, the other holding a wide brimmed hat. I believe it represents Kikujido - the Chrysanthemum Boy - the Emperor’s favorite page, who was condemned to exile. The Emperor taught Kikujido a phrase by the Buddha to thank him for his loyalty...

This solid Japanese Meiji bronze elephant is very heavy with skin and muscles modelled to a high standard. The elephant looks very animated and was obviously created by an artist of great talent. It is marked on the base with what looks to be a slightly rubbed Seiya signature. There is no damage to this piece.
