An Arita plate of scalloped form painted in kakiwake style with a Chinese Pheasant and rock motif surrounded by pomegranates in the centre, and trailing foliage to the rim, including Peonies and Plum flowers. The dish dates to the late 18th century circa 1780-1800. The rim decorated with a brown glaze. The reverse undecorated and the interior of the footring displaying faux chattering. The plate measures 17.5cm in diameter and stands 2.8cm high...

The centre of the dish with a table display of bonsai-like foliage. The curved cavetto with plant-filled lozenges against a blue ground.

The mark within the foot-rim was used at the Chokichidani kiln and the Old Kakiemon kiln in the period 1655 ~ 1670’s...

The blue and white porcelain made in ARITA erea Japan had been exported to Europe and much prized among the people, instead of Chinese porcelain. They are called as IMARI from the name of shipping port. We call the works produced in the EDO period as Ko-Imari meaning old Imari. This piece is supposed to be produced on the mid EDO period. The simple stroke in this piece is very favorable. No repairs or damages. Fine iron grains from the clay are appeared as black points...

Know more for his works of powdery-blue celadon, on occasion Sozan also produced fine white porcelains as well. This delicately-crafted porcelain kashibachi (sweets bowl) is one such example. Displaying a wonderful low-relief vine and leaf pattern on a backdrop of nearly eggshell thin ivory-white porcelain—this is a rare and interesting composition by Sozan I.

A large Imari bowl with a scalloped foliate rim made for the European market decorated to the exterior with a wide diaper brocade band incorporating a cross motif and Karahana. The cross in this context probably represents “sen”, one thousand, and combined with the karahana represents an auspicious wish for a long life...

Perfume fountain in porcelain Imari kinrandé mounted in gilt bronze from the same set of porcelain. The cup and the bowl form the base, the pot covers the perfume container.

The shape of this oval Japanese Arita dish derives from European forms. The combination of colors (Celadon and blue & white) is known to be produced from 1780 – 1820, a late Edo example. The dimensions: 7 1/2" x 6"

Japanese Imari Porcelain Lunch box/Jubaco with three(3) compartment with lid, 7 3/4" high with lid, 5 1/2" diameter and 2 1/8" high, 5 1/2" diameter for each compartment, Ca. 1920, decorated with typical Imari colors with character of "Happiness". Two(2) flake shallow enamel chips in red character area which is normal wear and tear over the years, overall in good condition.

This is a beautiful Japanese porcelain teapot. It has been Meticulously hand painted and the quality is similar to that found with Hirado, Makuzu Kozan or the best Fukagawa pieces. It meaures 8 inches across and is 7 inches tall. Condition is excellent.
