This hemp Kyogen costumes hakama was used by Kyogen actors in the Edo period(1800-1867). The light green color is dyed by mixing natural bark and indigo dye.It's a very natural and beautiful color. This hemp is hand spun. Round flowers and maple patterns are impressive. This one has some wear and tear due to age. There are several small holes here. Recommended for antique textile collections. This is an original Edo period (1603-1867) patchwork silk kimono textile. The collar part is a beautiful cloth with hand embroidery and shibori dye from the Genroku period (1688-1704). This is a yosegire kimono made with a patchwork of natural safflower-dyed katazome, shibori, purple root dyeing, and indigo-dyed katazome silk. All are originals from the Edo period. This is cloth of indigo dyeing cotton made in Aichi in the Meiji era. It colors the both sides (Ryoumensome) with the same paper pattern. Ryoumensome could use both sides, but the quantity of the work of the dyeing was double. Most Katazome dyes only one side. Because a craftsmAn imitated Shibori of the Narumi district, this Katazome is called NarumiKongata. And Narumikongata expresses delicate rhythm of Sibori smart in Katazome. This is Japanese Edo era Beautiful silk of the patchwork yosegire beni-itajime jyuban. It is comprised of four kinds of itajime-dye and eight kinds of katazome-dye and Safflower dyeing .
