From our Southeast Asia Collection, a fine and large Thai Rattanakosin bronze Buddha, early-to-middle 19th century, depicting Buddha with both hands raised shoulder level with palms forward in Ham Samut mudra, also known as "Calming the Waters" or "Calming the Ocean" mudra. Buddha is wearing regal attire here with traditional tall crown and body jewelry that is elaborately inset with lacquer and glass adornments. Gilding retention is relatively high on this example...

Over time, through use and handling, the cinnabar lacquer wears off to reveal the black lacquer base underneath...

A Rare Vietnamese large dish decorated with under-glaze blue and white bird perched on branches of peach trees and butterflie at the center,with enamelled red and green color. Dish has one hairline and enamelled degradations. Free from any restorations. 35,2cm diameter.

Height approximately 29.5 cm. Few small dents. The base has been layered with tin to increase weight, not for repairing purposes (must see photo number 10). There are many ornaments (silver inlaid) not appeared (more photos let us know). Overall it's a good vase.

A Very Fine and Rare Large Carved Old Plum Inkstone: Korea, 19th Century An oval shaped light black color and heavy weight inkstone carved in remarkable craftsmanship with 2 old and large plum trees with blossoms and 4 birds, and highlited by two olive green “eye” inclusions, it has inscriptions on the bottom. It is extremely difficult to find a Khmer Tazza and still much more difficult to find a Khmer Tazza in a fine condition like this. Stoneware covered by a very nice iron brown glaze which shows due to its high age an rainbow effect. Khmer, Cambodia, 12th century but excavated in Indonesia. H : 13,4 cm. Diameter : 24,2 cm. Condition : Very nice. No crack. Some glaze - splinterings to the underside of the base which are to see on the last enlargements.

The side of the box is circled with an excellent example of the Burmese schwezawa technique of gold leaf in a striking swirling chu-pan foliage design. The top has a lively chinthe, a traditional Burmese stylized "lion" figure with a vine and leaf foliage border.
