A rare Tausug sash made in tapestry weaving, raw silk with geometric pattern and zigzag design from the Sulu Archipelago near Mindanao in the Philippines. Provenance: old Swiss collection. Condition: faded, one narrow side maybe little shortened, patina, stained, discolored, few small thin areas and one selvage with small fraying. Dimension approx.: 36 cm x 275 cm.

Antique Timor Message Drum from the published and renowned collection of Sam Hilu, a prominent author and adviser on traditional Asian art. 20.5 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches, 52 x 14 x 14 cm.

Bust of Buddha out of cast bronze. The head is full and the rest of the bust is very thick, almost 1 cm in some places, so the object is very heavy. The casting and the finish are beautiful. The mouth is inlaid with a reddish yellow metal that has not oxidized over time, probably gold, I could check and test the metal on request. The eyes were probably also inlaid because there are 2 deep incised line that are now filled with traces of white color...

Antique Thai cast bronze figure of Garuda crouched on his haunches, with wings open wide. Garuda is the faithful friend and vahana (vehicle) of Vishnu. He is depicted here in anthropomorphic form, with human body but with wings, beak and and legs of an eagle-like sun bird. Garuda is the personification of courage and the enemy of naga, the serpent.

A splendid ritual silver necklace, southeastern Asian, ca. late 19th. century AD.- early 20th. cent.

The necklace with engraved bib or collar with fish amid scrolled foliates and geometric borders, traditional sides recalling a bird with downswept engraved tips (joined for mounting by circular and elongated links)

The whole necklace is greatly elongated with two hammered fishes, dangling long beads and a large butterfly below...

Old Chin tube skirt, circa 1950, from the Khumi subgroup in Burma. although deceptively simple is really extremely complex; please note in enlargements that the reverse side of this textile does not show any of the pattern on the front. This is made on a backstrap loom of very fine homespun cotton with a beaded fringe along the selvedge. Some stains and a few small holes. L: 180cm/71in and W: 44cm/17.2in

A cast brass gong mounted in a Japanese style wooden frame. The two parts were joined together in Singapore where the stand was constructed out of Vietnamese wuali wood. The stand measures about 27 1/2" wide x 23 1/2" tall x 11" deep and dates to the 1980s. The bell measures about 13" in diameter x 5" deep and dates to the 19th Century or earlier. The bell has a marking of "4-P" painted inside, and the gong comes with a matching quality striker...

Rare and quirky Rawang/Nung small storage basket from the Rawang enthnic group, Kachin State, Northern Burma. Rough plaiting but quite charming, the top of the lid has worn through- only the second of this style of plaiting, I have encountered over many years. H: 28cm/10.2in and W: (at base) 16.2cm/6.5in. Very old.

Nice old storage basket from the Lahu ethic group, Northern Thailand. This has a tough double layered weave with the outer wall made from rattan and the inner wall of bamboo strips. Lahu baskets are held in high regard by the other tribes in the area and were sold or traded to them. This is a genuine old tribal piece and not a tourist piece made for the home décor market. Acquired in 1990, and has been in storage since them a reasonable estimate on age would be 40 to 50 years old...

A leather or skin bag with original wonderfully cast brass fittings, both ends of the chain in the form of a singha head, the mythical beast, totem for all Batak People. Shamans "datu" kept magical substances in these bags. Please compare to the "salipi" in the collection of the "Musee du Quai Branly" in Paris. Condition: wear to leather and few small holes. Dimension: leather bag: c. 30 high x 31 wide x 10.8 cm deep, chain: 2 x 44 cm long.

A Martavan Jar made in Thailand or Burma with a cream glaze on the upper body over a reddish stoneware body, The lower half of the jar is not glazed, and there are two lugs on the jars' shoulder. The jar measures about 12 1/2" tall x 11" in diameter, and it is heavy, about 12 lbs. The Jar dates to the 16th/17th Century and was purchased in Indonesia. Magnificent lacquered basket with domed lid from the Karen ethnic group Northeast Thailand. The walls are constructed of strips of bamboo with rattan bindings and wooden base. The lid has one layer of woven bamboo with a tihck layer of natural lacquer while the lower half has a classic double layered wall with another coating of lacquer inside, which would have made this piece virtually water proof. Minor layers of lacquer loss in the interior, otherwise super fine condition...

Very large Cambodian brown lacqered clothing box with beveled dome lid and rattan bindings. Nice old village construction circa 50 or 60 years old. Constructed from molded wood and in good condition except for minor loss to crenellated decoration around the base. D: 38cm/14.9in and H: 22cm/8.6in.

A large betel-box "kun it" with one internal tray, made of woven and coiled split bamboo covered with lacquer. The slightly domed lid and the drum with yun decoration of king and court scenes and several inscriptions. The interiors with plain cinnabar red lacquer. A water dropper of figurine in the form of a kneeling man supporting on his right hand with a fan and his left shoulder a hollow vessel. Modelled and incised with decoration in iron-brown wash. Grey stoneware body. Base flat and unglazed. Sawankhalok ware 15th-16th century. Condition is very good with no any chip, no crack and free from restoration. Height: 10,9 cm.
