Japanese kaidan tansu, or step tansu with glowing hardwood finish, Hinoki (cypress) frame and Sugi wood steps. The bottom two steps have Keyaki (elm) front drawers with warabite iron handles. A Sugi wood cabinet door with vertical slats opens from the largest area with roomy storage.

Antique Japanese pair of lacquer trays with a black exterior and deep red lacquer interior. The sides of each tray are pierced with gourd shapes on their sides, lines, and small holes, and the rim is dotted with gilt lacquer. One tray is slightly smaller than the other, so they may be stacked and stored away. A wooden box is included with kanji on its lid.

Antique Japanese carved wooden figure of Shoki the Demon Queller, beautifully carved with billowing robe, covered in gold brocade obi fabric, this is an unusually exquisite version of the commonly smaller and plainer Kimekomi-ningyo. The movement of the drapery and intense facial expression with hand-painted eyes tell of the artistic skill used in the making of this doll. Eclectic strand of spherical wood, cylindrical bone and wild boar's incisor tooth beads, from the Naga or possibly Chin ethnic group in Myanmar. Some of the bone beads have been dyed to resemble pumtek heirloom beads, maybe using wax resist method. These were collected in the 1980s and had some age at the time so I will date around 1960. Chinese crackle glaze porcelain vase decorated Crackle with colored enamels depicting a battle scene. Bronzed bands around the rim, neck and base. The vase features 4 applied bronzed dragons around the neck and 2 foo dog handles. In excellent condition, this vase measures about 8 inches high.
This 19th century red and gold vase is 9 1/8” high, 3 ¼” on the widest part and 1 ¾” thick. It depicts a crane resting on a plum blossom tree. Some bamboo and pine trees and an inscription in Chinese are on the rest of the body. The calligraphy and picture are well executed. Unfortunately, the four or six character date mark on the bottom has been rubbed off. It is in excellent condition.
