This is a finely hand-carved Japanese Netsuke depicting a Man who is kneeling on a platform or base, while feeding a treat to his dog. Excellent detail and expression. Great two-tone patina. Outstanding huge chimney himotoshi, common of netsuke from this period. Unsigned. Base measure 1.14 X 0.86 inches (2.8 X 2.1cm) Netsuke is 1.78 inches (4.5cm) tall. Netsuke is in excellent preserved condition.

This small carved jade plaque was certainly the element of the central part of a Ruyi scepter, a symbol of the power of Chinese leaders. The plaque is finely carved with deep patterns, we can distinguish a bat, a symbol of happiness, and a vase of lotus flowers. The vase could mean abundance and the flowers seem to be Buddhist Lotuses unless they are immortal peonies. On the body of the vase is represented the intertwined feminine-masculine symbol, Ying and Yang...

This is a rare late 18th century porcelain model of an elephant from the Arita Studio. 8" x 11.5", it is nicely decorated with blue medallions and a pale blue glaze.

Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs.

A Chelsea-Derby dish copying a version of the Ko Imari Kuri-zu Shuronogata dish see EW 2608, decorated in a combination of underglaze cobalt blue and additional enamels. The dishes have a ground foot-ring which is characteristic of the output of the Chelsea factory. The dish is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration, some light stacking wear to the enamels and gilding to the rim. The dish measures 22cm in diameter and stands approximately 3.8cm high...

A rice bowl and its accompanying cover cum small sauce dish dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century decorated entirely in enamels with gilding. The exterior of the bowl and cover are decorated with a turquoise green brocade ground which is intended to simulate a Chinese enamelled scrafitto pattern of the period...

An Arita rectangular form dish decorated with an elaborate enamelled Lotus arabesque set against a yellow ground with a central reserve with a Chinese style landscape. The reverse painted with waves and landscape elements and a longitudinal nien hao six character mark for the Emperor Chenghua. The dish dates to the late 18th century circa 1770-1800. The lotus with yellow ground immitates contemporary Chinese Imperial porcelain of the Qianlong period...

A good quality large Japanese Imari bowl made for the European market decorated with a cobalt blue ground inset with a scrolling arabesque of Peonies in a highly stylised manner. The stems picked out in yellow enamels and the leaves veins in iron red. The flowers conventionally painted in iron red and gilt. Reserved against this ground are two quite large Ruyi shaped reserves containing a Pine and a Plum tree growing from a conventionalised rocky out-crop...

This 18th century Japanese unsigned boxwood netsuke of FUKUROKUJU (in phallic shape) is 2 ¼ inches tall, 1 ½ inches wide and 1 ¼ inches in depth. It is in excellent condition.

Signature of the illustrious family of Kajikawa lacquerers in 3 characters or in relief followed by a drawing of a vase in red lacquer also in relief. An exquisite hand-crafted Japanese cinnabar lacquered Inro with five compartments and Manju. It has a meticulously carved scene with 2 scholars or sages on one side and the other with two sages. The scholars are on a bridge surrounded by fronds in a garden setting. The Inro shows a beautiful style, the entire surface of the lacquer Inro boasts fine incised patterns incorporating various plant decors and geometric shapes...

White stone has a very pale celadon tinge and some translucency where the carving is thin. The curving shaft terminating in a dragon’s head has a smaller chilong winding its way toward the larger dragon’s head. The underside is carved with a button for attachment. It is well-carved and polished and in very good condition. Acquired 20 years ago in a Richmond, Va. Estate.

Small jade buckle cut with a grinding wheel, representing a dragon (chilong) curved on itself in the archaic style of the Han period. It is said that this type of buckle was used to suspend a sword on the belt. artist has excellently represented the small animal harmoniously curled up on itself and ready to pounce.
