Of hexagonal section mounted on raised bracket feet, the six faces of the body curved and the upright, flat mouth with unusual white brass mouth-rimmed around, and also hexagonal, inlaid in silver on the sides with auspicious characters, happiness and longevity, in medallions within key frets, on the legs with flower scroll and key frets, and two white brass handles in the shape of bats...

A Very Fine and Rare Korean Silver Inlaid Hexagonal Iron Box-19th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century. A well silver inlaid on the iron box with a big character “ Shu” –a longevity- on the top surouned by geometric designs, on the 6 sides inlaid with 6 characters “ Auspisious letter” also surrounded by geometric designs. It’s in very fine condition with a dark black patina around the body. Measurement: 9.2cm d. x 5.2 cm h.
