From a fine private Danish collection of European decorative ironworks, we present this fine Iron handle from a Church door or gate, Danish, Jutland, 16th. century AD.

Interesting large hande with a finial inlaid with cobber and bronze. Exceptional workmanship for the period.

The handle once adorned a large outer door or gate to a Church in Western Denmark.

Terracotta protome of female figure, probably a goddess.
The face shows large lidded eyes under neatly curved eyebrows, a prominent nose and a small mouth with pouty lips. And a heavy chin.
The parted hair is combed to the sides and falls in long braids along the neck...

Seated Eros tightly wrapped in a heavy cloak pulled over the stippled wreath on his head. The chubby face with remains of pink color, red lips.
Eros holds a pointed amphora with a stippled ribbon/garland hanging around the vessel’s shoulder. The ends of the ribbon run down the young god’s back. The stumps on the back belong to the missing wings.

A nice and massive undecorated jar in black clay with out-swayed rim.

Size: 23 cm. wide and 17,5 cm. tall.

Condition: Exceptional for the often restored types, intact with a few minor chips.

Seated bronze cat with arched back and noble posture of the head. The tail curled around to the front. The small head with beady eyes and erect ears, mouth and nose engraved.
The cat features very long forelegs and a small chest, on which appears an incised necklace with a rudimentary Eye of Horus pendant.
Cats were the embodiment of Bastet, goddess of Bubastis and patroness of joy and women.

A finely preserved lead bust or head of a young aristocrate, 1st. century AD.

Interestingly the features of this bust identical to the features of the young Caligula and surely Julio-Claudian period.

Vase in the shape of a fish. Iron inlaid with gold and silver. Turquoise stone detail and red eye, either glass or ruby. On the reverse, a tie was soldered to the pewter later to be able to suspend it and thus make it a wall vase. But it seems to me that the object was simply made to be placed on a table. The silver inlays are very numerous, but oxidized in black, they have become almost invisible, however they are clearly distinguishable on the enlargements...

A wonderful and intact inscribed stone slab or stele, Visigothic reign of the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal), c. 5th.-6th. century AD.

This white stone carving was possibly made for funerary purposes and represent the early style in Gothic stonework, where the inspiration from the Roman era was profound, but still combined with the wonderful Visigothic elements. A lovely large and quite scarce terracotta fertility figure of female form, Bajaur (Indus Valley), c. 3000-2500 BC.

A hollow mould-made Indus Valley red terracotta statuette modelled in a stylised manner with applied facial features and ridges of a broad flat head wto illude hair straws. Interesting and rare variant.

Size: 15 cm. tall and 8,5 cm. wide.

Condition: Choice for type, with usual losses to extremeties in antiquity. No repairs.

A choice condition and lovely terracotta fertility figure of female form, Bajaur (Indus Valley), c. 3000-2500 BC.

A hollow mould-made Indus Valley red terracotta statuette modelled in a stylised manner with applied facial features of birdlike form. Also with applied arms and beasts on the cone-shaped body.

Size: 14,5 cm. tall and 8 cm. wide.

Condition: Choice for type, almost completely intact a few losses usual to applikation in antiquity, no modern repairs...
