Carved from a jade-like hardstone (possibly serpentine). Rectangular form with a slightly raised grinding surface bordered by a narrow, raised perimeter with a carved depression for water at the top end. Very good condition with no cracks. There is some wear to the grinding surface and to the base. Old patina with old light soiling.

Small Chinese jade water coup carved in the form of a lotus leaf with a flower set on the bottom forming a base. Lotuses have been a preferred motif within the literati tradition and desk accessories with motifs of lotuses are often seen. Perfect Condition Age: Qing Dynasty 18th/19th century Size: height 1" diameter 1 3/4"

A rare 17th Century (probably late Ming) carving of the Hehe Erxian - the Twin Immortals of Union and Harmony - in typical pose, one holding a basket and the other holding its 'contents' - a bat a symbol of happiness. Condition - good - there are natural cracks and flaws to the stone but no damages or losses...

Ca. 1700s or earlier

This clear quartz stone is carved in the form of a mountain with tall peaks to accommodate five or six small calligraphy brushes. The front has a “ruyi” carved in low relief among rocky outcroppings across its slightly convex facade. The backside is flat and uncarved and reveals the natural flaws in the clear stone. It has a soft polish overall and an even wear. Acquired in Osaka, Japan in the 1970s.

Small 18th century nephrite carving. A reclining horse is turning his head toward his back. He is holding a Ling-Zhi symbol in his mouth. This is a very nice old piece. H: 1 ½ inches, W: 2 inches, D: 1 inches

This small 19th century Chinese carved nephrite cup is 3 ¼” long 1 ½” high and 1 ¾’ on its widest part. The cup was carved to look like an old bronze vessel. A dragon (or beast) head is carved on the top of the handle and belt like “Ru Ding” design encompasses the entire body. Aside a tiny indentation on its rim, it is in great condition.
