A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot. The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted. Featuring a globular body with a short waisted neck that flares out to a flanged rim which is slightly depressed in the center with two loop handles on opposite sides of its shoulders. The vessel is covered overall in an olive green yue-type celadon glaze, except for its base, exposing its grey stoneware clay. Measurements: Height 10.5”inches. Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Camel with Oxford TL Test

This fine pottery model of a camel, laden with saddle bags, was made during the early Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906) or possibly a little earlier. It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in a white pigment. The camel stands upright and alert with its mouth open and its head turned to its left. On its back is a set of saddle bags that include a blanket, ducks and what appears to be a rabbit...

Being applied on the surface with low-relief grapevine motifs and highlighted with brown glaze, this ewer pot was presented in a quite decent look...

In Changsha kiln, undergalze painted works are created Tang Dynasty 9th century world first.And also it is known that many of them are painted by iron and copper as coloring agent. So they are very variable, This ball was refloated from Chinese wrecked ship at Java offshore. The peeling off of glaze are recognized at several parts on the edge, and no repair or no re-burned. This is an intact and very fine example of this ware which, to me, seems to incorporate a human torso, standing with arms and legs akimbo. The colors are quite vivid, with an aubergine purple in addition to the black outlining. The piece is well and thinly potted, standing some 7" in height.It swells out to some 7" in diameter, measured across the area of the two rings ("lugs").
