The inscription reads: Painted around late spring of 1918 following the style of Wen Hengshan. Signed: Longcheng Jushi, Huang Shanshou. Seal also reads the artist's name. Large Natural Qing Dynasty Gourd. Original ring and cap with tassel. Dimensions 50 cm high and 27 cm wide.

The base is made up of several small wooden parts finely cut with flowers, scrolls and Greek motifs. The majority of the wood is dark brown, almost black, small inserted panels are made of boxwood, the barriers are made of bone. These barriers were tinted green, a color today almost completely erased by light and time, however more pronounced shades of green remain in the most sheltered places. This barrier is carved with plum blossoms, bamboo stems and pine needles...

A Chinese small box made of zitan wood on the walls and huanghuali wood on the bottom. A very thinly carved jade cover decorated with a picture on top depicting a scholar holds a lotus flower walking under a pine tree in a rocky mountain. Cast bronze censer in 3 parts. The casting is perfect and the metal meticulously scraped. The combustion hearth part fits on a 6-foot base inspired by wooden furniture. The decor is simple but of high quality, the greek borders and the discreet scrolls are very finely incised with the best precision. The lid is not of the same quality, it was created to replace the old lost lid. It is an excellent ancient Chinese work from the 18th century or earlier. Hight: 222mm Without cover: 158mm

A small finely carved amber and translucent white coloured soapstone figure group depicting the Daoist Immortal Liu Hai 劉海 and, unusually, a Pixiu.

This item was probably made for the Scholar's table as a tactile handling object in the 17th or early 18th Century, possibly during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662 - 1722).

Condition: the tip of the plantain leaf base is broken off but the figure group is fully intact...

This is a yellow mat glazed brush pot from the renown Chinese potter Wang Bingrong. The brush pot is potted in high relief depicting a scene of a pair of birds perching on the willow tree on a breezy day and with another bird flying towards it. Behind it is a lovely poem describing the lively scenary. Circa late 19th / early 20th century

A simple one line Chinese calligraphy attributing to Chi Xizhao (1793-1866). The calligraphy reads: The pure jade harmonizing with the gold with the pure wind in the forest of treasure. The work is dated to year of the water boar (approximately 1863), mid spring. Chi Xizhao was a noted Qing Period poet. Chi Xizhao was a scholar of the xueshi rank during the Jiaqing period. This scroll originally was one of a pair.

A fine Chinese scholar's agate brusher washer with many of the stems and leaves worked away from the vessel in an open worked manner. The stone is a translucent light grey to almost clear color with the stems and leaves having light russet colors terminating in the leaves to an orange hue. The overall appearance resembles a lotus leaf curling on the edges with stems, leaves, and seed pod that are worked over top and around all sides including the bottom...
