This is a rare large chinese porcelain Guanyin statue dating to the Qing Dynasty. The statue is sitting on a lotus base, right hand putting on the front of the chest, left hand holding a bottle. The face expression looks very serious and sincerely. Great item.

The head is carved in a grey stone that I think is limestone, it is harder than marble but it can be scratched with a steel tool. The naive sculpture seems to be made by a craftsman who was not a sculptor or a sculptor of a primitive people. It unquestionably represents a Buddha with his third eye in the middle of his forehead. There is some red pigment left in one nostril and in the corner of the mouth.The appearance of the stone seems very old...

The Chinese god of longevity is depicted standing holding a peach branch laden with fruit in his left hand. The peach is the symbol of immortality. The artist has represented Shoulao slightly bent by the weight of his years, his gait is hesitant and his step seems reduced and slow. The left arm rests on the kidneys to relieve the pain. This small old Chinese wood sculpture of a mounted horseman is probably of famous warrior or legendary character. Carved from wood and painted the horse and rider are fixed to the original wooden stand. Original paint with some loss and one arm missing. 6 inches high including stand and a charming artifact of centuries past.

Budai is the Chinese "Père Noël" ,the Japanese calls him Hoteï. He carries toys in a big bag and distributes them to children who adore him and are sometimes represented at his side.
