Antique 16th-18th century Tibetan Buddhist gilt bronze Shrine including, base and mandorla for Buddhist deities, also known as 'parikara' or 'prabha' (aureole). The base is decorated with a row of lotus petals and a mandorla chiseled with a flaming pattern.
Since gold was more expensive centuries ago than in modern times, gilding is found only on the front.

Original sealed bottom. Tibet, 17th cent. H 11 cm. Condition: very good gilding with natural patina due to handling.
A solid cast gilt bronze dating to no later than the 17th century. The piece consists of the upper five heads of a standing Avalokitesvara. Mounted on a custom stand, the piece itself measures 4-1/4" in height. The quality of the casting is first-rate; remains of gilding, as shown in the photos.
