This antique copper reposse gau houses a picture instead of a clay tsa tsa which was common for a family gau. when the family could afford to do so, the picture would be replaced by a clay tsatsa. Curiously, this gau also houses 2 amulets, which were typically provided by a monk. The paper is very old and I am told it is bad Karma to unfold the amulet...

A votive portable prayer altar with a bronze botisattva on the front, in relief, sitting on a lotus pedestal. it is surrounded by incised leaf and flower patterns. Inside is a statue of Buddha and there are two prayer sheets (one hand printed and one block printed).

Tibetan Buddhist thangka protraying an image of Yamantaka, which is the wrathful form of Majushri, the bodhisattva of wisdom. The deity is flanked by Chenresig, Lama Tsongkhapa, a Bodhisattva similar to Namgyalma, and a blue tara. Age: 18th/19th century. Size: height 35.5" length 24.5" width 0.75"

A rare early smaller bronze figure of Krishna dancing on the serpent, South Indian, perhaps Tamil Nadu, c. 17th.-18th. century or earlier.

Condition: Choice Very fine, lovely old patina, with a fine chestnut brown colour from high copper content.

An attractive Indian or Nepalese Hindu Godess, ca. 18th. century.

She is mounted on a round Lotus base and doing a beautiful pose turning to the extreme left with her upper body. Clad in a thin veil around her hips and othervise naked but for jevellery and crown. With large youthful breast with erotic charm and appeal.

Lovely chestnut / mahogany patina with preserved residues of pigment in the devices.

An Indian stone surahi expertly turned on a lathe from a single piece of black steatite, a variety of soapstone. It is beautifully made and very light, displaying the remarkable hollowing performed by the artisan. It relates directly to bronze and brass versions from the 18th century. Antique Himalayan tall yak butter lamp. Made of hand hammered copper with gilt bronze applied details depicting Buddhist auspicious symbols. The butter would have melted and burned for a measured amount of time depending on the size and the amount in the lamp. A small hole in the bottom of the cup would have held a sort of wick to provide a long lasting light. Overall repouse details are in great detail. Original patina...

A Tibetan Bronze figure of Shakyamuni, 19th century or earlier.

Buddha sat in a mediative pose, one hand in his lap, the other connects to the earth. The head has been dressed with gold paint, the hair exhibits traces of blue. A good quality sculpture that seems to have had a hard life and has seen better days. There is a bruise to each upper arm, one larger than the other and some distortion to the bottom of the lotus base.
