This is a signed 8" Satusma vase in the form of a bucket. It is decorated quite nicely with hand painted landsacpes and birds.

Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks, or repairs.

Satsuma Miniature Teapot Signed Kozan, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The teapot is 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) tall by 4.5 inches (11 cm) wide.

It is in good condition with no repairs, or cracks, except rubbing of gold and a chip at the underside of the lid (as seen in the photos).

This teapot is being feature at the Architectural Digest's May 2006 issue, page 140 under "Great Design Japan."

Hand made more than hundred years ago in Iga, a small tow in the mountains of Mie prefecture, famous as the birthplace of Iga ninja.

Items like ours gave big inspiration to one of the worlds famous potter Tsujimura Shiro.

Iga-yaki is a style of pottery where the ceramic is fired at high temperatures causing it to crystallize in a red hue, with brown-grey burn marks caused by log ashes, and the melting effect of the vidro (feldspatic glass)...

From our Japanese Collection, a superb Kinkozan satsuma vase of tapered ovoid form, Meiji Period 1868-1912, most likely 1880-1890, depicting a finely painted bijin on one panel along with finely painted roosters and flying birds in a garden setting on the other panel. Both main panels are separated by reserves of elaborate gilt work set against a rich cobalt blue ground. Kinkozan signature and impressed mark on the bottom...

Offered is an 8.5" bowl decorated in five colors on a greyish white ground, green reverse with Fuku mark. There are many knife cuts on face and a gold lacquer mend on the rim. An old piece well used and treasured.

Antique Japanese large oribe bowl with cream crackle glaze, short basket style handles with bright blue-green glaze dripping down the sides of the bowl, designs of wavy lines and dots along the rim, bold floral patterns on the interior, swirling pattern on the foot. This is a very fine and extremely detailed Japanese satsuma vase. It was made by Kinkozan but the style reminds me more of a Ryozan piece. It is signed on the underside with an impressed mark. It stands 7 1/2 inches tall and in 4 3/4 inches wide. The vase is in excellent condition.
