Antique Japanese bronze censer in the form of a monkey. Elongated right arm is holding a ring attached to a chain and another ring for hanging. The monkey's left arm hangs by his side and it's tail wraps around. There is a round door in the back for inserting incense. The smoke would come out an opening in the monkey's mouth. Charming expression. Deep patina.

The box is made of iron embossed with a hammer, the forging work itself is admirable, it presents a particularity rarely encountered in works of this type, in fact the artist sculpted the trunk of the tree hollow in the iron and forged the branches in relief. The inlays are in shakudo (copper and gold alloy), sentoku (copper alloy) in silver and gilded copper. The details are solid gold. Quality dark patina bronze sculpture depicting the study of a powerful tiger in an unusual position.
The animal's posture is engaging with the paw raised and the tail curled upwards along the end. The streaks of the fur are depicted in a masterly way and highlighted with a strong engraving.

A wildly crafted bronze image of a shishi lion breathing out a cloud forming the basin for a flower arrangement (known as an usubata). The curly hair has been somehow flaked off and maintained during the casting process, quite an exceptional example. The basin can be removed from the mouth of the creature. Assembled it is 32 x 28 x 33 cm tall (12-3/4 x 11-1/4 x 13 inches) and weighs 4390 grams (9.5 pounds). It is in fine original condition.

There is a stamped maker¡¯s mark on the bottom which reads ¡°Hidemitsu¡±. The owner purchased this piece from Sotheby¡¯s in the early seventy¡¯s. It is in excellent condition.
This well cast Meiji period Japanese bronze vase is 10 ¾ inches tall and 4 inches in diameter at its widest. It depicts a wild goose flying away from the moon. The moon is silver inlaid and the goose is silver overlay on top of the bronze body. The goose eye and feet is gold. There is a maker¡¯s seal on the bottom, it reads ¡°Kyoto, made by Kuroda¡±. There are a few scratches on the body and lighter color around the moon due to cleaning.
