A rare and vivid Imari ware porcelain tea pot, made around 1850 in the famous Hichozan Kiln. Hichozan was a trade name used by the group of Arita kilns & makers mainly for export during the late Edo to the Meiji period in the 19th century. Their works are hold in museums and from collectors worldwide.

A Fu lion is hand-painted on the body. The signatures of "Hichozan" and the potters name are written on the bottom.

An Arita Export porcelain dish decorated with a design based on a Ming Chinese Kraak plate. A pair of Ho-o birds amongst flowers and bursting pomegranates. Arita, circa 1690 - 1720. A similar dish is illustrated in the Shibata Collection, Kyushu Ceramic Museum, item 2495.

The border pattern shows a striking similarity to that used for V.O.C. orders produced at the Hikeoba and Sarugawa kilns. Circa 1680.

A Fukagawa porcelain 9 1/2 inch dinner plate. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including random butterflys. Mt. Fuji mark inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition. This is genuine Japanese Shoki Imari Excavated Chawan (Bowl).
It is dated from early Shoki Imari which dated back to 1630-50 maybe
little earlier. Shoki Imari did not have the process of making porcelain with bisque,
glazed then design painted. Porcelain making process skipped
bisque and glaze making, rather they put right into glazing and painting design done
in same time...

A Fine Large Japanese Imari Bowl, Meiji, 19th Century.

A fine and substantial Arita Imari rinka bowl. Six panels, inside and out, are alternatively decorated with ho-o birds and flowers.

The centre of the bowl depicts the shochikubai, the three friends of winter. A suggestion of breaking waves can also be observed to the left of the screens.

Approximately 24.5 cm diameter. Perfect condition.
