A bronze foodog that was a finial on a larger bronze piece of art. The shishi is well formed with good detail, and has a beautiful patina. The dog/lion measures about 3 1/2" high x 3 1/2" long, and dates to the 19th Century or earlier. The condition is very good. The only damage is to the base where it was broken off. A porcelain dish from the Imari Kilns of Japan, that was made during the 19th Century. The dish is six sided with scalloped edges, has a center bouquet of vined flowers, and has border scenes of a flying dragon and temples. The plate measures about 13 1/2" in diameter x 2" high. The condition is very good with some wear to the design and on the gold covered rim. There are three very small edge frets that you can feel, but are too small to show in a picture...

Pair of Japanese Kutani tall porcelain bottle vases, with elongated bodies slightly tapering to the short neck and gilt rim, decorated with red enamel landscape scene and gilt clouds over white crackle ground. Each vase signed with 2 character mark.

Japanese 2 panel byobu screen painting on silk, of a male and female deer resting below a maple tree. Each panel is bordered in gold leaf and signed "Kagayama Hakuho" with a red chop.

Kagayama Hakuho (1880-?) was born in the Okayama Prefecture Japan. His studies continued under Takeuchi Seiho in Kyoto, and later moved to Kobe for his work. Works by Hakuho have been displayed at the Kyoto City University of Art.

Two matching small Imari dishes with high quality applied decoration, including the "three gentlemen" at the center of each dish (pine, bamboo, and plum blossom). The dishes have a scalloped edge, and have a stylized Ching Dynasty, Yung Cheng, reign mark on the recessed base. A Japanese heavy bronze incense burner with Murashido marbled areas decorating the sides, bottom, and lid. The burner is six sided, has a lid pierced with three bats (good fortune), and a top knob in the shape of a mushroom (long life). There is a makers mark stamped on the bottom (Esteemed Hall?). So rare! Wonderful Gozu Aka-e Mizusashi by greatest Eiraku Zengoro Hozen, made during the Japanese Edo Period. It is in perfect antique condition without cracks or repairs.

The red and green scroll work in over glaze enamels on a white crackled ground is superb and well balanced. The round Eiraku seal is on the lower side.

A Japanese single section Sendai tansu, constructed of Keyaki (elm) front panels and Sugi (cedar) sides, with original light finish and black lacquered frame. The drawers of this chest have large, decorative, hand-forged iron lock plates with floral motifs and mokko (melon) handles. The side of the chest has a safe door with 3 small Keyaki burl front drawers inside.
