An octagonal beaker and saucer plate, thinly potted and decorated in under glaze blue with "lange Lijzen" and flower pots in Kangxi style. Late Edo, c 1850. Marks: Zoshuntei, Sampo sei (cf. mark 96 in Lawrence, Hirado: Prince of porcelains). Height of beaker "2¾/ 7 cm and diameter "3½/ 9 cm. Diameter of saucer "5¼/ 13,5 cm. Condition: fine.

Whimsical antique Japanese netsuke of two octopi in embrace, carved in beautiful cherry amber with lots of little details. The Japanese would wear small stacked containers called inro from their belts or sash. Inro boxes were held together by a long cord running down its sides that looped at the top, held together by a netsuke bead and an ojime bead. The cord would run through the two holes featured on this netsuke. 19th century Size: 1.5" tall x 1.5" wide

Modeled in the Chinese style, this baluster vase is fitted with elephant head handles on the neck and is decorated in three registers, the largest of which displays four dragons in low-relief over a diamond diaper ground. Various floral and bird designs decorate the lower registers. Extensive verdigris covers the surface as well as the interior and the base as a result of use as a garden ornament. There are no damages or repairs.

A rare antique Japanese Kyushu Choba Tansu (merchant chest from Kyushu island) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. The frame of the chest was made using Suginoki wood measuring a very thick 1 1/ 8". Constructed with straight dovetail Japanese joinery and hardened wooden nails. Japanese kogo, or incense container for tea ceremonies, in the form of a small bird with very fine maki-e or sprinkled gold lacquer exterior. Each feather of the bird is highly detailed in low relief maki-e lacquer. The pupils of the bird are done with very fine red lacquer for contrast. 19th century Japanese ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in a form of a natural fruit pit skillfully carved with 2 scenes of scholars engaged in discussions, all among swirling clouds. Excellent carving in deep relief with precise undercutting and complete piercing of the body of the pit. Very nice mellow brown patina, in excellent condition. Height 1/2 inches.

Beautiful Japanese antique 2-section isho tansu (clothing chest) from the Nihonmatsu area of Japan, made with nice keyaki (elm) wood on drawer fronts, safe box in lower right hand corner opens to two small interior drawers, there is a key for the safe, lovely iron hardware includes large warabite shaped drawer pulls with separate small butterfly details, Meiji Period. Size: 45 3/4" x 43" wide x 17 3/4" deep.

An exquisite Japanese gold lacquer Inro of boat scene with five compartments. The inside compartments are covered with dense nashiji lacquer (fine gold flecks).
