Late 19th to early 20th century Japanese Bizen Tokkuri (sake bottle). Pinched form with impressed Daikoku (one of the Seven Gods). Perhaps intentionally thrown with an imperfection. It is in good condition. H: 7 ½ inches, W: 3 ½ inches

According to a Japanese legend Kintaro (also known as Kintoki) was the child of the forest raised by the mountain witch Yama Uba, and possessed an extraordinary strength...

A Fukagawa five and 3/8 inch tea saucer dish. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration. Mt. Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition. Late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese lacquered wood set of kushi (hair comb) and kogai (hair pin) with colored and gold lacquer decoration of a carp swimming in a stream among water lillies. Beautifully made out of dense wood allowing for fine teeth, superb lacquering, wonderful work in Japanese taste, loss to part of lacquer on the fish of the comb, otherwise in excellent condition. Kogai length 5.56 inches, comb length 3.46 inches.

This cast metal figure of a farm girl is an early 20th century (late Meiji) product. It depicts a bare footed farm girl carrying a large basket on her shoulder. It is 11 ¼” high and 4 1/8” in diameter at the base. The tip of the small stick she holds in her left hand is broken off. Aside from this, it is in very good condition.

This before World War I ceramic Kutani style nude lady is 12 ¾” high, 3 ¾” wide and 4 ¾” thick. It depicts a long hair nude beauty holding a bright traditional rube and leaned on a dark rock. There is a faded red mark on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.

A set of 10 Hirado porcelain lidded bowls decorated in underglaze blue with mountain landscape on one half and prunus on the other. The interior has a central floral roundel and wave design on the rim. Each marked Hirado, Kasho. The original wood box, tomobako, inscribed "Hizen Hirado yaki", Kodai (ancient), Prunus, Sansui ga (oriental style painting of mountains and water). One bowl is damaged - 9 sets plus a lid. DESCRIPTION: A large and fabulous Sumida Gawa tankard with an unglazed body, graceful handle, and figures of a man and small boy in very high relief. A thick, flowing flambe' glaze in blues and brown coats the mouth and runs down the body and handle in thick drips. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the handmade figures of a seated man with a cane facing a young boy, both supported by craggy rockwork ledges...

Antique Japanese kyodai (box with drawers and mirror). Made with burled mulberry wood with intricate grain. The interior is all kiri (paulownia) wood with a wiped lacquer finish inside the drawers. The box has 5 drawers of various sizes for storing personal items. The spandrel under the mirror is carved with a bird flying in front of a full moon and tall grasses. Original beveled glass mirror which swivels up and down...
