Uniquely figured diamond shaped bronze 'suiban' flower vessel for ikebana flower arrangement. Lovely Meiji Period c.1885 bronze featuring hexagonal diaper pattern representing tortoise shells and long life. Ever since the Nara Period, stylized tortoise shells have been a popular diaper design in Japanese art. Very rare design for a suiban flower vessel; most are rectangular. Excellent condition. c.1885. (18" x 13") (45cm x 32cm).

Japanese Blue and White Transfer ware Porcelain Square cut corner deep Platter, 12" square, 1 1/2" high, pine tree, mountain and river design in the center, and two different shade of transfer blue design of trees, foliage and butterflies on the wide border. One shallow flake chip 3/4" wide underneath the rim and some old frits on the corner of the dish, and scratches in the glaze on top of the dish.

This is Japanese meiji zanshi weave noragi hanten textile. It does not have a stain and damage and is in a very good state.Zanshi, or kuzuito, is cloth that is woven from threads either leftover from home production of yarn making, or from broken threads that were purchased from local commercial weavers. size:92cm x 123cm (36.2" x 48.4")

Pair Japanese Brass/Bronze Hibachi, late 19th century Meiji, with high relief design of travelers in beautiful landscape setting, elephant handles on both sides, 8 3/4" high, 9 7/8" diameter on top rim, 12 1/2" diameter include handles. There are some wear and tear from usage with some minor dents but no major damages. Compacted ash on the bottom remain for both Hibachis.

This is an indigo dyeing cotton kimono used in Kyoto. As for this, cotton is spun by hand. This cotton is thick. This is dyed with a beautiful natural indigo plant. This indigo plant is a good indigo plant cultivated in Kyoto. This has a few stains to a chest and a collar, but does not stand out. This is the very good state that does not include damage. 19th century Japanese small lacquered wood netsuke representing a theatrical mask, probably that of Kentoku. Excellent intense face, great patina. Crisp detailing, nicely lacquered, some wear to the surface. Signed RYUUN on the back bar - the artist is listed in NETSUKE MASKS by Raymond Bushell, p. 175, signatures 241-243. Height 1.13 inches.

A large sized Imari porcelain tripod censer decorated with motifs of peonies, wonderfully drawn karashishi or Chinese style lions, dragons,and phoenixes. Large censers are often used in Buddhist temples, where extra censers would be used during ceremonies. Age: Edo Period. Size: Height 7" Diameter 10.25"

Late 18th to early 19th century bronze suigaraake (ashtray) netsuke in classic bowl shape, its outside cast with a bat in flight by a clump of bamboo stalks with leaves. Very well designed piece, good detailing, functional netsuke shape, hanged by a bronze ring. Nice old piece with pleasant patina on metal. Diameter 1 9/16 inches.

This is shijira Noshime kimono of the samurais with luster dyed with an indigo plant of nature of the Edo era. This has two places of small holes and thin stain This Nosime features deep indigo dyeing with clean luster and Kasuri of transparent blue. In this way, Nosime of the indigo dyeing of Sijira with the luster is rare. This was made in Kyoto and was used in Akita. Size 141cm x 132cm (55.5” x 51.9”)

Suzuribako (writing box) in lacquer decorated with clematises and kakis trees in black and gold lacquer and kirigane lacquer on a nashi-ji background. This suzuribako is composed of an ink rock, a small water pot and two side compartments in nashi-ji lacquer. Several mon in shape of fans are also present.
