A small food bowl in the shape used today for rice in North Asia (Japan, China, etc.) The shape would have been prized in its day in Japan as an export ware of Thailand used as a Tea Bowl for matcha (Matcha Chawan.) Excellent condition, still suitable for matcha use today. The kilns of Central, Northern, & Western Thailand were active predominately in the 14th to 16th Centuries...

With a wonderful green patina. Excavated in Cambodia and dating from the 17th or 18th century. Length: ca. 10 cm (4 inches) each. Mounted on custom made stands.

Beautiful Ghandaran modeled stucco head. This artifact is from the McCloud collection. Ghandara refers to the Peshawar valley and some parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. This region was heavily influenced by greco-roman style as a result of Alexander the Great's campaign in the far east. From our Southeast Asia Collection, a fine and large Thai Rattanakosin bronze Buddha, early-to-middle 19th century, depicting Buddha with both hands raised shoulder level with palms forward in Ham Samut mudra, also known as "Calming the Waters" or "Calming the Ocean" mudra. Buddha is wearing regal attire here with traditional tall crown and body jewelry that is elaborately inset with lacquer and glass adornments. Gilding retention is relatively high on this example...
