Wonderful potting, beautiful patina, very nice texture and play of colors to the partial light glaze on its surface. Inscribed by the potter on the bottom. Turned bone cover lined with silver colored foil on the inside. Great piece in excellent condition. Height with cover 2 15/16 inches.

Rather unusual late 19th century Chinese glass seal in a shaped of a stylized rock. Beautiful transparent glass, excellent finish to the surface. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1 (photo is flipped left to right to present the image as it will actually print on paper). The bottom is crisply carved with four raised characters that can be translated as THE HALL WHERE KINDNESS is CULTIVATED, old dried red seal paste in the grooves. The exterior of the deep rounded sides carved with a band of petals rising from the foot to the flat everted rim, and the interior decorated in the center with two molded fish, covered overall with a glaze of guan type sea-green tone except for the foot rim burnt reddish-brown in the firing 12 cm diam. 1 cm crackline on the rim No chips or cracks and free from restoration.
