1920s (late Meiji - early Taisho) ceramic chaire (tea caddy for storing powdered green tea used in tea ceremony). Comes with very well made shifuku (silk brocade storage bag). Kyoto ware with dark brown to black glaze and beautiful tan colored streak going from the mouth to the middle of the body, old turned resin lid lined with gold leaf paper on the inside...

The quality of the carving is extraordinary. This bamboo brush pot comes from an old German collection, there still is an old inventory number to the base of the piece. There is a Chinese inscription to the piece which can be translated as follows : "the boat is ready to go to heaven, the prince will go seek help from god". Qing Dynasty, nineteenth century or earlier. H : 14,4 cm. Diameter : 10,9 cm. Condition : Perfect with a nice patina.

Japanese antique hina dolls (ningyo), the muscician dolls from the late Edo period (1603-1868). All five dolls have dimples on their cheeks; one doll in the center is carrying an inro (medicine case) and another has a pouch on her back of the belt area -- shown in the last photo...

A rare Japanese Sometsuke Mukozuke dish, the design of a partially folded fan taken directly from Chinese porcelain made especially for export to Japan during the late Ming Dynasty, Tianqi Period, 1621-1627.

Modeled in the form of a partially unfolded fan and decorated with a figure on a riverbank, the river and a solitary boat before him. The naturalistically modeled back is plain and has three thickly potted circular feet...

Okimono of the Tokyo school made in bronze, depicting a farmer returning home after the harvest. He carries two fruit baskets, which are filled with harvest products. To carry the baskets, the farmer has a long stick over his shoulder, with the ends of the baskets hooked to it. Origin: Japan Period: Meiji end of 19th century. Dimensions: 31.5 x 23 x 13 cm. A rare Ming dynasty Hongzhi - Zhengde blue and white cover box with three legs, rounded side with dome shape and three legs, cover with flying phoenix bird motif, sides with flower motif, three legs with qilin motif, unglazed base, good condition no damage please see picture for detail, size: 10 cm diameter.

Antique Japanese theatre mask, skillfully hand-carved into the face of a tengu, or birdlike spirit, characterized by an usually long nose. His face is painted in red lacquer with black facial hair, and gold-lacquered eyes typical of a demon. The insides bears the usual rough chisel markings of a finely hand-carved piece. With neo-classicism a dominating influence in decorative arts at the end of the 18th century, it is most natural that dinner service wares would follow suit with clean simple lines and decorations as we see in this Chinese export porcelain pitcher.

Its chief decorative elements are subtle molded shapes and contours in the helmet form and the spare blue and white enameling of its body...

Unusual and rare pottery figure from the Han Dynasty of a soldier in uniform sitting on a stool with one leg folded under him. There are still some remains of a white slip. Size: H.9.5cm. Condition. No repairs.

This is a finely potted butterfly bowl dated to the Qing dynasty - Tongzhi period.It thas a yellow background surrounded with butterflies with brown, pastel blue and yellow colour.

Condition:
It is in good condition with no repair restoration, chip or glaze crazing. Only manufacturing imperfection and rubbing on the rim which can be seen in the photos.

Very rare antique Japanese cross and Buddha made of cast iron. Extremely unusual as most pieces at this time where in bronze. This is a secret object of the Kakure Kirishitan, "Hidden Christians", devoted Japanese members of the Catholic Church who went into hiding during the beginning of the Edo Period. Brought to Japan mostly by the Portuguese, the practice of Christianity was forbidden when Japan closed itself off to the world in the early 17th century...

Chinese antique yuhuchunping, pear shaped porcelain vase with a short foot and slender neck flaring at the rim. Decorated with a copper-red underglaze scene of a four-clawed dragon amid swirling clouds. The inside of the rim is decorated with a classic scroll motif. The area just above the foot of the vase is encircle with a band of trefoils.

Unusual 19th century Japanese carved wooden head of rakan - one of the 16 (sometimes the number is given as 18) initial disciples of the historical Buddha.. Was carved and, judging by patina, most probably used, as the top of a votive statue. Wonderfully captured facial expression, beautiful patina. The bottom of the post is branded with the mark of the workshop where the piece was carved. Height 3.71 inches.

Nice old red and black lacquered Cambodian Siri (betel) box container with foliate scroll pattern incised on the surface. Minor lacquer losses and restoration consistent with an antique piece. The art of Cambodian lacquer production has had a minor renaissance in recent years but this mainly done for the decorative art export market, items made for local village use this has pretty much died out after Khmer Rouge Era and advent of cheap Chinese plastic boxes...
