A heavy Ming style bronze censer bearing the inscription - "There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet". Similarly inscribed bronzes and porcelain were first made for the Imperial court during the reign of the Zhengde Emperor (1506-1521) but this item was made later. This is a rare late 18th century porcelain model of an elephant from the Arita Studio. 8" x 11.5", it is nicely decorated with blue medallions and a pale blue glaze.

Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs.

A superbly carved yellow soapstone seal in the form of a boulder. The legend on the base seems to read: Hua pa chou shang yin, or "Huapa (Flowery Loquat) seal of congratulation". On one side is a design of archaic dragons sporting around a traditional emblem of wealth, the copper cash with a square hole. Three inscriptions are carved on the faces of the boulder, much as ancient inscriptions were carved on suitable rock faces in the mountains...

Mother nursing her child, probably from the Sawankhalok kilns. The body of the hand-modeled figure is rather hastily sculpted as is the doll-like child. This hastiness is typical of figures such as this one which were made in large numbers and distributed as fertility charms. This one, however, has more care taken in defining the facial features of the mother as well as her hairstyle...

Used for grinding ink sticks to make ink for painting and calligraphy. These two palettes were fashioned on the potter’s wheel from dense, thick porcelain. The upper surface is left unglazed for ink grinding. The circular grinding area is slightly concave and is surrounded by a channel for water used in the ink-making process. Both are incised with a design of stylized bats encircling the perimeter of the body and glazed with a deep, vibrant cobalt blue...

9" 19th century Kakiemon plates, slightly rounded, with blue flower baskets over blue underglaze. There are blue sprays on the undersides, each bears a Fuku mark.

Condition: Excellent, no chips, hairlines or repairs.

An exquisite and exceptionally rare 19th century monochromatic transparent ruby red enamel over solid gold vase with the impressed seal of Namikawa Sosuke. Sosuke did very few transparent enamel vases; there is an example in the Khalili Collection done in purple on a silver body with silver mounts, it lacks the brilliance of this vase. Height: 7.5625"

Vibrant shades of red, blue, gold and green were used to paint this mid Edo period Ko-Imari kendi. 9.5" x 6.75", it is in excellent condition with no chips, hairlines or repairs.

Probably 1800s, possibly earlier

This finely cast figure, seated in vajrasana or lotus position on a double lotus base, holds in the left hand a stem of lotus with the right middle finger touching the thumb. The flowing robe is open at the chest and drapes over the right shoulder. The borders and lower portions of the robe are incised with scrolling floral motifs. The facial features with slight downcast eyes are crisply rendered and the hair is well-defined...

A brass wired green and brick red dragon writhes about the brown goldstone surface of this early Meiji 14" charger.

Condition: Good, with pitting usual to pieces of the period and a couple of slight nicks to the brass rim. No chips, hairlines or repairs.

The body is formed by a fairly thinly turned jade tube that is fitted with a turned hardwood plug for the base. The wooden bottom is visible on the interior base of the jade tube and it is turned to form a stand that compliments the simplicity of the jade form. The jade is slightly yellowish to pale celadon and has white veining on one side with brown inclusions on the other, creating patterns resembling clouds or a landscape...

This is a 30" Cizhou stoneware urn painted in iron brown over a white slip with exposed lugs to the shoulder. Circa 1000AD

An exceptionally well decorated and finely potted bowl made to the best Imperial standards. The base carries the six character reign mark of the Chenghua Emperor enclosed within a double circle. This item was made later - during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor - probably in imitation of or as a replacement for a 15th Century Ming original. There are eight chips to the rim. This fine silver wired 3" x 2.5" box is from one of the better studios. A single bird descends from a blooming prunus tree, the trunk of which extends down the front side of the box against a ground of blue so dark it appears black. The mounts are of silvered brass.

Condition: Good, there is minor scuffing to the bottom and an old repair to the upper left edge of the lid.

A large Yuan 13th - 14th century longquang celadon dish, rounded side with flattened rim and deep center, decorate with large dragon chasing flaming pearl motif at the center, inner wall decorate with carved weave motif, outer wall decorate with raised lotus petal motif, covered with green glaze...

A richly enameled and well modeled Kannon seated upon a purple scrolled tailed beast of green. Measuring 10" in height and 10" in length, the figure is well preserved. There is a chip to the right foot of the Kannon and three enamel flakes to the hair. No cracks or repairs.
