This very unusual Kyoto ware chawan is decorated in underglaze blue on a buff stoneware body.

The motifs are very odd and present mysterious pictures a poetic calligraphy.

Inside are 5 spur marks indicating that these bowls were stacked inside each other in the kiln. A previous owner has obviously been very attached to the bowl as it has several fine "kintsugi" gold lacquer repairs.

The Teabowl was made in Edo Period at the end of the 18th. century...

Small cast bronze incense burner. Ding (tripod) shape. Beautiful casting and neat finish. The sobriety of the decor and the perfection of the volumes giving this small creation a powerful yet elegant appearance suggest that it is a very old censer, probably from the Song period. An excellent very old patina stained with verdigris in places would be compatible with this earlier period. Height 82mm. Fine condition.

Another Hagi Chawan of the Koraizaemon family in our collection: wonderful Hagi tea bowl made by the 9th generation Saka Koraizaemon (1849-1921) during the Meiji Period. Fine and aesthetic Kintsugi gold restauration. It comes with its originally signed and sealed wood box and signed and sealed authentication documents.

An antique Japanese Byosho Bako (peddler's chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware. Two loop rings where a carrying rope was once attached allowing the merchant to carry this chest on his back. The hinged door opens to 5 drawers used for the storage of wares for sale. A few small ink stains on the upper surface attests to the merchant using the top as a writing surface when writing sales...

Antique Japanese light orange chirimen silk kimono, with beautiful floral and linear designs woven in the fabric. It is heavily embroidered with bright and beautiful flowers of many kinds, colorful leaves, twisting striped ribbons in thick gold and silver thread, and shibori accents.The upper interior is lined in white silk. Early 20th century Size: 66" height, 51" width

A really rare type of chawan: wan shaped tea bowl with a rounded brim, made of light coarse clay. The fine iron bearing clay was nearly fully covered with glaze mixed from wood ash and feldspat.

The iron oxide in the body turned the glaze to a bright orange where thin. The bowl shows a fantastic discoloration from tea as a result of many years of careful use.

Small deer in cast bronze. The animal is shown lying down. It's a roe,stag or maybe a deer. Very good quality of sculpture. The perfection of the volumes, the search for detail and the neat finish are similar to those that we admire on the Netsuké. This little deer must be a Japanese work rather than a Chinese one, it is impossible to date it with exactness. Probably Edo or earlier. Tibetan Thang-ka. Early 20thcentury. Pigment on cloth, the large central roundel with a central figure of Heruka in yab-yum, surrounded by 4 smaller roundelsde picting further deities in a landscape setting. 99 x 65 cm.

A Korean, inlaid slip (sanggam), celadon brush washer for the scholar's desk; Goryeo dynasty. Delicately potted and with a fine coloured glaze, this washer is fully glazed with three kiln-support marks to the foot. It is inlaid with floral decoartion to both the interior and exterior. Dimensions: 10.9 cm diameter. Good glaze condition, some overpainting to the rim, and an associated hairline. Additional photos are available upon request.

A Very Rare/Fine Koryo Bronze Midium Sized Basin,13th C. Korea, Koryo dynasty (11th-14th century) A very well potioned middle sized bronze basin with a silver-black and blue patina on its surfaces around is a very rare with this condition. Its patination is more attractive to this basin. Its shape of basin is exactly a prototype of Koryo celadon ceramics in Koryo dynasty. It’s in very fine condition but a tiny hole on the base. Girl's kimono made of hand-spun cotton with flower motif which is Yuzen-zome (hand-painting). The ground cloth is benibana (safflower) dye. Benibana was grown in Yamagata prefecture in Edo period, and it was very precious. It was traded to Kyoto and dyed there for kosode kimono or others for women of a family of high-ranking samurai or merchants. Benibana dye has faded in upper back, but generally in good condition.
