RARE pair of miniature red lacquered elm wood Chinese scholar's cabinets. This ingenious antique Chinese sundial can be carried in the pocket. When needed, the cover is removed, the pointer is raised and held in place by the notch in the raised semi circle arm. Direction is established by the small compass on one side of the pointer. The small fixed circular dial on the other side of the pointer uses Chinese characters...

A rectangular bronze suiban decorated with patterns of swimming Koi in fast flowing water. The design apparently largely cold worked rather than cast and patinated with a reddish brown finish. The moulded handles in the form of Kuwai, the marshland Japanese Arrowhead plant. The suiban measures 18.5cm long, excluding the handles, and 13cm wide and stands 7.2cm high to the rim and weighs approximately 1.1kg. The bronze is in good, sound condition. Very nice Imperial yellow hand carved Chinese wine cup. The bowl is accented with carving details in the stems and lotus areas for added appeal. The shape of the bowls reflects those porcelain counterparts that were popular around the late Qing and early republic periods. Condition is excellent without any chips, cracks, hairlines, or restoration. Measures 4.5 inches high by 2.5" in diameter. Stand not included.

A hog mouthed beaker of conventional form decorated with Flowers of precious appearance or sometimes referred to as Tang Flowers, karahana. A six character Dai Min Seika nensei mark is painted within the foot-ring. The beaker is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. It measures 9.2cm in diameter and stands 6.2cm high. See Shibata Volume V no 231 for a beaker of different form but with an almost identical pattern. There dated c.1690-1720. Shipping at Cost.
