An antique pair of Japanese bronze garden temple lanterns with reticulated sides. Hinged door on each lantern allows access to the interior. Four feet allows placement on a stand or pedestal while a top loop allows each lantern to be hung.

A large archaic style bronze (copper tin alloy) incense burner on three legs with lion head terminals and with tall flared flange edged handles. The body is decorated in relief with the Eight Daoist Immortals and above them, centrally, on the front is Shou Lao / Shou Xing, the Star God of Longevity, seated on a recumbent deer.

A well-carved nephrite jade plaque depicting a coiled, sinuous dragon paired with a phoenix and spiral-incised "bi" disc. The phoenix and "bi" disc have been covered with a gold lacuer gilding. Intricate, flowing spiral decoration covers the dragon's body and the disc. The piece measures 3-3/4" end to end and is, as best I can tell, made entirely without the use of modern cutting tools. An early Arita porcelain dish, Kakiemon, 17th Century, circa 1655~1670.

The centre of the dish with a table display of bonsai-like foliage. The curved cavetto with plant-filled lozenges against a blue ground.

The mark within the foot-rim was used at the Chokichidani kiln and the Old Kakiemon kiln in the period 1655 ~ 1670’s.

Dishes with similar designs are to found in the catalogue of the Shibata Collection, Kyushu Ceramic Museum.

An Arita Export porcelain dish decorated with a design based on a Ming Chinese Kraak plate. A pair of Ho-o birds amongst flowers and bursting pomegranates. Arita, circa 1690 - 1720. A similar dish is illustrated in the Shibata Collection, Kyushu Ceramic Museum, item 2495.

The border pattern shows a striking similarity to that used for V.O.C. orders produced at the Hikeoba and Sarugawa kilns. Circa 1680.
