An interesting Japanese puppet head of an old woman used in Bunraku, the traditional puppet theater developed in the Edo period by Uemura Bunrakuken, which the name of the puppet theater was derived from. The puppet consists of several moving parts. The head and neck are two separate pieces that move up and down. The bar on the bottom assist the puppet master to move the head in various ways and the rope as a lever. Age: 19th century. Size: Height: 11" Width: 7" Length: 4"

A nice and polished Danish neolithic daggertime axe dating to 2200-1800 BC.

The axe has a 'hanging', slightly assymmetrical edge. The blade of the axe is broade, immitating the early metal axes made of copper and bronze in this period.

A fine little octagonal blue and white porcelain kakiemon style deep dish. Chocolate brown glazed rim, white body and clear glaze over cobalt blue decoration of a primitive, raised teahouse with loose thatch roof and slung entrance screen all under a large willow tree and, conspicuously, a spiderweb (perhaps to emphasize closeness to nature) in the foreground. The interior wall and rim decorated with repeating pattern and karakusa (scrolling vine and leaf)...

A good baluster shaped vase, decorated in underglaze blue, depicting peony and other flowering plants on a garden terrace. This item was made for export to Europe during the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736 to 1795). Condition - good - there is a single light 3cm hairline running from the rim - no chips and no restoration...

This figure has old losses to both forearms. The features are worn and it is blackened overall from incense and candle smoke, but it has a pleasant, soft patina. A metal nimbus was originally attached to the back with a small strip of metal that still remains. Acquired in Kyoto in the early 1970s.

Satsuma Miniature Teapot Signed Kozan, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The teapot is 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) tall by 4.5 inches (11 cm) wide.

It is in good condition with no repairs, or cracks, except rubbing of gold and a chip at the underside of the lid (as seen in the photos).

Antique Japanese scroll painting of Buddha Amitābha also known simply as Amida Buddha and two Bodhisattva attendants: Sanzon Bosatsu (with both hands holding a lotus blossom) and Seishi Raigo Bosatsu (with hands in gassho adoration mudra). The dishes are small, absolutely lovely and quite unique with their simple decoration of a flying crane and the other dish with a butterfly decoration. This pair of dishes fascinates by its simplicity. Ming Dynasty, Wanli period ( 1573 - 1620 ) Porcelain dishes with a Cobalt blue decoration, most probably Jingdezhen ware. Diameter : 8,7 cm. Condition : Perfect with a nice glaze and a nice "ping-tone" when tapped. No cracks, no chips - this what looks like small rim chips is covered with glaze.

Black-figure depiction of naked youths with clamydes that cover their shoulders and bystanders clad in cloaks. All figures hold spears.
The scene is framed with ivy garlands on the sides and buds alternating with dots on the marked shoulder. A row of tongues emerge from the ridged junction to the neck.
Applied red on the outer edge of the rim and the sideward rotelles, the ridged junction to the neck, the garments and the fillet of one youth...

This antique Japanese small drawstring fisherman's bag is woven from hand rolled cording using indigenous natural plant fibers. It would be used for carrying home the catch at the end of day. The bag shows some areas of staining and one small area near the bottom where a few fiber cords have split. these condition areas are to be expected of a folk art item of this age and use. ,,,,,

the bag is roughly 10 x 12 inches and has a generous amount of cording for adjustable straps.
