A Blanc de Chine Libation Cup. Of rhinoceros horn form on one side with a tiger seated below flowering prunus whilst looking up at a Dragon. The other with a deer below pine and a stork. Chinese 18thC. Height 7.2 cm. Length 13.7 cm. Condition: there is a shallow glaze flake 0.4 cm and 0.3 cm to the rim (See last image) and a small flake in the foot.

A good Nabeshima dish from the Nabeshima clan’s Okawachi kiln of oval boat shaped form, perhaps inspired by the boat shaped ingots, sychee or yuanbao, and decorated with an auspicious pattern of a pair of Goldfish swimming amongst water weeds. This particular pattern and shape belongs to a group of wares that were approved by the Shogun Ieharu in 1774 and were produced throughout the late Edo period for the consumption of the Shogunate. Chinese late Tang dynasty to Five Dynasties period stoneware ewer with high shoulder tapering down to a slightly flared foot and flat base, the short neck ending in a slightly wider rolled mouth. A double-strand handle connects to the neck and shoulder, and a short straight spout is opposite the handle. The ewer is covered overall in a thin layer of white slip with a wavy ribbon or rope motif that ends well above the unglazed base. 7 1/2" high...

Japanese set of 7 blue and white porcelain condiment cups. Each cup is formed with dramatic four lobed foliate rim, eggshell thin body with cobalt blue under enamel scene of Mt. Fuji and flower medallions. The foot of each cup is recessed and incised with lines in a circular order. Dates from the 19th century.

An 18th Century sectional sweet meat dish, finely painted with two Chilong (Chi dragons) among stylized scrolling lotus and made in Canton (Guangzhou), southern China, during the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795).

Very nice Satsuma water jar often used in Japanese tea ceremony. Made in a drum form, the body features boys at play. Being quite versatile, it would make a wonderful biscuit or candy jar from which to offer guests a treat. In excellent condition, it measures 5.5 inches high.

A very attractive large Udjat eye amulet, Egyptian, and probably Late period, mid 1st. millenium BC.

The amulet is vcarved in a hard Diorite stone, very beautiful in hand.

Sourced from an old estate, this pair of lotus shoes came with a hand written tag/label sewn to the back of one heel and a red paper the shape of the inner sole place inside on of the shoes. The paper is at the point flaking and disintegrating and the writing is in old Chinese and no longer readable. Because of the "tag and label, I suspect that these shoes were presented as a "gift" to a Western missionary, teacher or friend...

Antique Japanese woven bamboo traveling basket/trunk, with iron side handles and locks, an iron hinged top, lined in old light blue paper.

This well worn pair of Woman's Lotus shoes for bound feet are from the later part of the Qing Dynasty about 1870-1880. The vamp fabric is red cotton with a matching floral embroidery pattern on each side. The delicate hand stitching detail clearly shows the pride taken by the owner/maker. The soles are short of the toe vamp which was done to give the wearer a more floating and sensual appearance when walking.

The Chinese porcelain dish has a border of two repeating elements, a garlanded ruyi and three interlinked rings. The centre of the dish depicts a Chinese landscape with two scholars approaching a solitary angler. The dish was made for the Japanese where such pieces were used and much appreciated in the tea ceremony, at a time when the Japanese porcelain industry was in its infancy.

This pair of Chinese lotus shoes, aka bound feet shoes, have a soft golden color silk vamp. Each side of the shoes is embroidered with the same pattern, and uses satin stitch silk thread.
