A Very Rare Korean Iron Portable Hand-Carrying Lantern(照足燈-조족등)-19th C:
Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century.
***This types of iron portable lanterns(照足燈) are extremely scarce but oiled paper lanterns
which never been published in museum, private collections or in auctions as my best knowledge.
Made with iron in the shape of lotus hexagonal lower body, and cylindrical iron hand carrying
bar with a folding curtain shape floral decoration...

Possibly made for use as a ceremonial item. Some rim fritting, one frit to underside as shown. A few pinholes and a small stain spot to the interior, otherwise good condition. Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1960s.

A larger black serpentine cylinder seal, showing a the Great King battling a winged griffin with bird-like features, star and other symbols in the fields. Achaemenid, c. 550-332 BC.
Nice core Persian style for the medium.
Height: 34-35 mm and with a diameter of 12 mm.
Condition: Very fine for the type and basically intact with minor chips and smooth wear.
Provenance: The Karl Müller collection, Germany 1950-1977...

A jar of squat form with three lugs and a short neck with flaring mouth. Moulded peony spray decoration in low relief on the shoulder. A translucent glaze over a white porcelain body, the flat base unglazed. Yuan to Ming Dynasty, fourteenth to fifteenth centuries. Dehua ware Fujian. H : 4,3 cm. Diameter : 5,4 cm. Condition : Chips to the flaring moutg ( see images ) further in excellent condition.

Japanese Edo period woodblock print by Utagawa Toyokuni I (1769-1825) depicting the Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro possibly portraying Yoshitsune wearing a kimono with a pattern of Karasu (crow) Tengu. The mythical half man half bird creatures who lived deep in the woods were masters of swordsmanship with whom Yoshitsune practiced sword fighting. The tsuba on both swords is in the form of the crest of the Ichikawa family...
A finely painted sometsuke bowls decorated with alternating reserves of three leaping koi divided by a criss-cross ground or “nets” and a central motif of a Chinese landscape featuring a figure collecting fire wood with his head looking skyward. This is probably a representation of Ceng Shen (So Shin) collecting fire wood, a disciple of Confucius , who whilst looking at the moon suddenly became aware that his mother needed him, a popular Confucian parable of filial piety...
Fine Japanese Meiji Period Okimono of an Articulated Bronze Beetle with amazing detail. A masterwork of hyper realism. 2.5 inches, 6.25 cm.
The U-shaped body with broad flaring mouth supported on three tall splayed legs, cast around the body with a key-fret band and to the underside of the spout with a nine character Mark. Very nice patina. H : 15,8 cm. L : 17,9 cm. Condition: Perfect.

Quirky pair of fishing bobs from the Mentawai Islanders off the coast of West Sumatera. These are probably multifunctional as I have seen them described variously as turtle net buoys, fishing bobs as well as net weavers. The larger one has a fishing hook fashioned from a nail as well as old stone bead. L: 49.5/19.5in and 53cm/20.8in.

Earthenware pair with mirror-image decorated overall with figures of Buddhist Arhats (enlightened followers of the Buddha). The Arhats are depicted in various enamel colors wearing brocade robes picked out in gold enamel. A beautifully decorated famille rose/verte hexagon shaped tazza with 5 different brightly coloured gold fish swimming in a hexagon shaped pond surrounded by water lilies, lotus and water plants. The underside of the tazza is decorated with iron red bamboo leave. The base of the tazza bears the four-character minyao reign mark of Tongzhi (1862-1874) and of the Qing Dynasty period.
The gold fish tazza is in good condition with no restoration...

Measure 1 1/2" diameter in larger beads, some are deep, one is round.
