The hunting scene shows a naked man with a spear grasping at a bird hidden behind a large ivy leaf which may represent the forest grove.
On the other side a woman with diminutive head and outstretched arms. Assuming that plants are denoted by contouring dots, she is standing next to three trees in her garden.
Figural depictions on this type of pottery are rare...

A pair of Imari cups, scalloped rims and decoration of reserves with landscapes and calligraphy in underglaze blue and little berries or dots in overglaze red. Japanese, Edo around 1860, shop mark in underglaze blue. Height "2 ½/ 6.2 cm, diameter "3 ¼ / 8.3 cm. Condition: fine.

Cup and saucer, both with a flower border in underglaze blue and a peony in the center. The exterior with a light Café-au-lait variation of the brown “Batavia” glaze (Batavia being the Dutch name for the VOC shipping harbour, today's Jakarta). Yongzheng, early 18th century, the base with a shop mark. Diameter of saucer "4 ½ / 11.5 cm, height of cup "1 2/3/ 4.3 cm. Condition: the cup with three chips to the rim and foot rim, two of them with old repairs (cf. pics).

A lovely large bronze ring of the Byzantine and early Islamic type, 6th.-8th. cent. AD.

The ring with a thick ring and oval bezel, which is engraved with an interesting relief engraving of structures or perhaps an ancient form of writing.

This is an antique Japanese Ikebana bamboo basket that harkens to the shape of an ancient bronze vessel and it features an exaggerated loop handle. The upper half of the basket was created in an auspicious repeating pine needle weave which would represent longevity. The cross hatched weave bordering along the hip delineates the upper and lower halves with lower half incorporating double layered split bamboo in its weave...

Antique Japanese rare and tall ikebana basket, intricately woven of fine split bamboo. The body of the basket has a beautiful, undulating quality. The woven pattern is wildly natural on the lower portion, then switches to ordered bands closer to a wide rim. The extraordinary handle is made of twisted root wood.
