Very refined Japanese lacquered wood tray representing a branch of plum blossoms and bamboo leaves in gold and brown lacquer. The decor is placed on a brown base in the style of a basket weave. The back is in black lacquer (ro-iro). The protective wooden box is original and signed on the lid and inside. Dimensions: 10 x 18 cm. Period: Meiji (1868-1912) 19/20th century.

A finely incised Beetle scarab of a more naturalistic form with detailed engraving of the Beetle itself, New Kingdom, c. 1539–1075 BC.

Interesting engraving on the base with a large Ankh hieroglyphs that looks to have legs and is walking towards another elongated figural sign.

Size: 17-18 mm.

Condition: Very fine, intact with much wear to the glaze, attractive patina!

A fine Chinese snuff bottle made from Carnelian, well hollowed. One side carved in relief with a bird on a rock beneath a bat, the backside engraved with a ruyi scepter. The stopper is made from white jadeit with a green spot and a bone spoon. Condition: the stopper eventually not original, traces of usage. Dimension: c. 6.2 cm high.

Early 20th Century rose quartz carving of 2 beauties. Made of one piece, it is difficult to find a double figure carving like this. Presented on a custom rosewood stand, this rose quartz carving has really nice details that we were not able to fully capture with a camera. It is much nicer in person and you won't be disappointed. In excellent condition, it measures on stand 10-1/2" high x 5" wide x 2". Carving alone measures 9-1/8" high.

Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese wooden stand for a snuff bottle with round top and wide skirt above 3 short feet. Beautifully made out of dark dense rosewood, very nice patina, in excellent condition. Diameter of the recessed area on the top is 1 inch (24 mm), total diameter 1.76 inches, height 0.6 inches.

Chinese Qing dynasty rectangular form hardwood stand with four inward curving legs resting upon small balls. The stand is carved on the curved apron with vines and lingzhi fungus. Top: 17” long (about 18” at apron) x top: 10” wide (about 11 1/4" at apron) x 7” high. Weighs 6 lbs. 19th century. The stand was more recently refinished and is in very good overall condition. A few of the balls twist a bit but are secure. From a Sun City West, Arizona collection.

Wooden figure of a lion, companion to Fugen bosatsu. On his back he carries a lotus base, on which Fugen used to sit (figure missing). The lion stands on high and slightly stiff legs, each foot positioned on a small lotus base.
The figure has been carved out of several blocks of wood that were subsequently assembled into the final figure. This technique is called yosegi saiku and was widely used for complex sculptures like these. The tail is stuck into the back, remaining loose...
