Antique Japanese pair of shokudai (candle sticks). Made of copper repousse and overlaid with silver, these candle sticks are decorated with a intricate chrysanthemum and scrolling vine motif. The base and top of each of the candle sticks flares out and is lobed in a chysanthemum form with scalloped edges.

Late 18th to early 19th century Chinese bronze sculpture of Guandi holding a long halberd in one hand and stroking his beard with the other. Guandi is a legendary and supposedly a historical person, one of the Three Heroes of Han Dynasty, who was later raised to immortality and deified as God of War. Strong image with great thoughtful face, excellent casting, beautiful flow to the lines of his robe, wonderful chiseling of textile patterns...
Late Qing Dynasy (1880s 10 1911) century Chinese Peking glass seal in cylindrical shape. Wonderful simple piece appropriate for a scholar’s table, very pleasant finish to the surface. Transparent glass with the slightest pink tinge. The bottom is carved with two raised characters that can be translated as EASTERN GARDEN, red seal paste in the grooves. Imprint of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Height 2 3/8 inches, diameter 1/2 inches.
A Chinese scholar's calligraphy brush rest, composed of mixed metals, in the form of a dragon resting on clouds. The hollow underside shows patina from oxidation.

Antique Korean bowl, with a rich crackle celadon glaze. Its outer edges are incised with thick lotus petals. The bowl displays small, buff areas, bare from the natural dripping of the glaze.

A lid for an urn vase, coffee or chocolate brown glaze with Famille rose enamels in leaf-shaped reserves. Chinese so-called Batavia or Capuciner brown ware, early 18th century. Diameter 3¼" / 8 cm, the inner rim to fit a vase or urn opening with a diameter of 1½" / 3,9 cm or more. Condition: fine.
Lidded box, a soap box of quatrefoil ogee shape. Decoration of a garden family scene and a Qilin procession in the soft Famille rose colours of the Tongzhi period but later, probably c 1920. Stamped Tongzhi mark to the base, and a Beijing shop sticker. Length " 4½/ 11 cm, height without the handle "2/ 5,5 cm. Condition: slight wear (cf. pics).
A round leather storage box possibly for the safe keeping of a hat, ornament, or item of dress. The box measures about 7 1/4" in diameter x 2 1/2" tall, and dates to the 19th Century. The box's dark lacquer finish and hardware are in excellent condition, both inside and outside. A fine example of Chinese Folk Art. Free shipping within the USA.

A JAPANESE ARITA PORCELAIN SQUARE DISH, EDO PERIOD.
An attractive Japanese Arita porcelain square dish with canted corners, decorated with an oversized sage lost in reverie by a lake. The unusual borders completely painted with figures in a landscape. Late 18th ~ early 19th century.
By repute once part of the Bigelow Collection and disposed by auction in New England a few years ago.
Approximately 15.5cm square...
