A very rare example of an Antique Japanese iron samurai chest armor (dou) with Fudo Myo-o. Made in the five plate, four hinge go-mai chest armor sendai or yukinoshita style. On the breastplate, Fudo Myo-o, one of the five myo-o or Lords of Light stands with sword in hands, the flames of his nimbus swirling around him as he stands on churning waves. Fudo is a fitting subject for samurai armor as his name means "the unmovable or unshakable one"...

A pair of covered ceremonial Sake-Tsubo called Heiji decorated with the three auspicious winter plants, Sho-chiku-bai (Pine, bamboo and plum) by Ito Tozan II enclosed in the original wooden box Plum pine and bamboo rise up in a riot of color on the thinly crackled pale glaze covering the surface. Inside the box is dated Showa 11 (1936) 8th month, 9th day. Each is roughly 22 cm (9 inches) tall and in excellent condition, each uniquely stamped on the base with the artist seal...

Chinese Export Porcelain flower pedal shape and Scalloped edge Tea Bowl and Saucer, Ca. Kangxi, 1720, 4 3/8" diameter and 7/8" high-saucer, 2 3/4" diameter and 1 7/8" high-tea bowl, with underglaze blue Leaf mark in blue double circle on the bottom, overglaze red of floral and long leaves design with soft gold touch within scalloped edge rim for the tea bowl and saucer. Some tiny frits around the raised rim area.

In the Hanada-colored ground, three bold carps and waterweeds with the force are expressed in indigo dyeing Shibori.

Unusual 1890s - 1910s (late Meiji - early Taisho) Japanese wooden nyoi - a Buddhist scepter - made out of a natural branch or root, its head with wonderful pattern of roiling clouds. Nyoi, or Ruyi scepter is a traditional symbol of scholarship and transmission of knowledge. Lacquered in Negoro style with bright red body and black patch on the head. Nice striated wood surface texture of the branch, wonderful patina, very pleasant to the touch...
Lovely terracotta lamp of the Loeschcke VIII and with a fine depiction of Eros holding the arms of Mars, below on the base is an inscription as a mark of the workshop.

Condition: Good Very Fine, completely intact with a little earthern deposits in the devices.

Finely engraved, with excellent dark patina. Two engraved names at the back. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). H. 34 cm. Condition: casting flaws (typical for Ming bronzes), ome curl missing at the foot of the figure.
