A Japanese water dropper in the form of a karashishi. It has a fine patina with the surface smooth from handling and darkened in places from accumulated grime. Inscribed signature on the base, unread. Probably 19th century.

The front of the pendant is decorated with 3 figures in a garden, one holding a fan and one holding a parasol. The text on the back of these pendants is usually about protection and good fortune for the wearer. Dimensions: 7 x 5,5 cm, length of the chain 53 cm. Weight 68 gr. There are holes on 3 sides of the pendant. There is a hallmark on the top side. Provenance: Dutch private collection. The acid test shows a silver content of ca. 90 %.

Unusual grey pottery jar from the syncretic Buddhist Dali Kingdom circa 982CE–1253CE, which was located in present day Yunnan. The Dali State was not fully absorbed into the Chinese Empire until the Ming Dynasty, although it did accept Mongol control and were by and large allowed to manage their own affairs as long as they contributed soldiers. This jar has mysterious animal appliqued faces well as Buddhist images set against peepul tree leaves (Bodhi Tree)...

Nearly all the Ming Dynasty blue and white decorated covered boxes on the market are late Ming pieces of the Jiajing or Wanli period. This small, lovely coverbox is rare because it is a Ming Hongzhi period piece.( 1488 - 1505 ) Diameter : 4,6 cm. H : 3,6 cm.

Song Dynasty Qingbai covered box with floral pattern on lid and lobed sides to lid and base. Light blue overall with more pronounced blue in recessed areas on lid & base. Interior is partially glazed revealing white ware towards rim on lid and base. Note, chipping to base rim with a small hairline on inside of base eminating from chip, not apparent on outside. An Arita porcelain plate (#2) decorated with a leaping carp within a moulded border based upon Chinese Ming export porcelain, ‘Kraak’ style. The dishes have faux chattering in imitation of Wanli Kraak dishes.

Wa-sarasa futonji made of cotton and dyed with pigments. Wa-sarasa is Japanese calico which is first made in Edo period immitating calico from abroad and stencil-resit dye or woodblock print. The product places were Nabeshima (Saga Pref. in Kyushu), Sakai (Osaka), Nagasaki (Kyushu) etc, however it is not clear where this futonji was made. In excellent condition.
