Chinese yellow soapstone scholar's seal. The stone is carved with scenes of sages and their attendant with landscape ground of mountains, pine trees, and bamboo. The reverse is also carved with a man seated at the edge of water, his finger pointing towards the mountains where a temple roof is partially unobscured. The seal on the base of the soapstone reads "a virtue should be praised".

Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty porcelain plate with celadon glaze decorated with a molded raised pair of raised fish in the center. The underside of the plate has a raised lotus motif with petals radiating out from the unglazed foot. The twin fish is an auspicious symbol representing harmonious marriage and good fortune.

Unusual 18th/19th century small votive Indian bronze sculpture of Nandi - the vehicle of Shiva, or sometimes considered to be a form of Shiva himself. It rests in its usual position wearing rich trappings surrounded by numerous offerings. Very neat casting and detailing, great patina, compressed dust in crevices and traces of sandalwood paste used during worship, bottom is covered with red paste. Very good devotional object, wonderful feel of age to the piece. Length 1 3/8 inches.

This piece had been imported to Japan in 14th century by "Tenryu-ji ship", and so called "天龍寺青磁 Tenryu-ji celadon" in Japan. It has peony pattern carved at the inner and outside surface, and fretwork pattern at the inner rim.

An antique Japanese Kasane Tansu (stacked Kimono chest on chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Kakute handles and the lock plates featuring the Takanoha Mon (crossed arrow feather family crest). Each section has two sets of side handles, one for carrying with a pole and one for placement in the home. Using thick wood, it was constructed with straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails...
Diameter approximately 15 cm (across the masks). Repaired and new patina added. In good condition.
Ultimate iron doorknockers! Two halves of of an iron chryasanthemum, the imperial family creast, creating a full chrysanthemum with heavy iron knockers from the Edo Period, Ca. 1860. Underneath each iron ring is a kanji character: one is "Kotobuki" meaning 'long life' and the other "Fuku" meaning 'happiness.' The chrysanthem is attached to the wood by iron screws.
