Extremely rare and probably unique porcelain and gilt copper ewer.The body of the object is a Japanese porcelain covered pot of the 2nd part of the 17th century around 1660 coming from Arita of the Kakiemon kilns but maybe from the Yambeta kiln. The pot was transformed in Europe into a teapot by the addition of a handle supporting a horse and a spout forming a dragon in gilded and embossed copper, the lid is formed by a swan. All these animals in relief are certainly in cast bronze...

A nice Chinese Southern Song dynasty brown glaze tea caddy, Hongtang ware, Fujian province. A famous kiln produced tea ceremony items during Song to Yuan dynasty. A lot of Hongtang pieces are indicated as Jizhou ware by misunderstanding because of the similar clay and glaze. Ht. 11cm. This is a Japanese antique Echigo jyofu Hemp Akita region. It is a Benihana(Safflower dyeing ) Katazome child Kyogen costume from the Edo period.It is a set of kataginu and hakama. Children's Kyogen costumes are very rare. There are a few light stains and a few very small holes. But overall, it's in very good condition. Recommended for your antique collection. Painting on woven paper. An unusual and surprising technique. The paper is cut out then this woven paper is painted. However there is a subtlety because in some places only the vertical strips are painted and not the horizontal ones which shows us colored squares alternating with unpainted squares which gives a blurred effect anticipating our "pixels" and which, I think, gave the illusion of a woven fabric...

A small Chinese brass handwarmer with pierced lid and carrying handle. The lid has many vent holes, some of which are shaped like stars. and these organize the round holes into what looks like many plum blossoms. The warmer measures 3 1/4' high (5 1/2" high with handle up) x 5" in diameter, and dates to the late 19th Century. There is a Chinese character chiseled on the base which translate to "to set on fire"...

Shibuichi box inlaid with solid gold, shakudo, silver and sentoku. Several techniques are used, chasing, engraving, inlays in relief and flat. Interior lined with silver. Signature of the silversmith underneath with his stamp in gold inlay. Exceptional goldsmith's work. The scene must represent the god of the sea, his servants are an octopus and a fish wearing kimono. The octopus is particularly amusing with its angry and authoritarian look...

Kane gong or bell of a very simple, cylindrical or dish shape, without any sort of decoration. Two loops for cords to hang the gong on a wooden rack. Yellow bronze (sentoku).
Inscription incised in the rim on the back/inside. It mentions the dedication of this gong at the Zenshoji temple in Meiji 40 (1907).

An exceptional, detailed Japanese netsuke signed my a master, early 19th. century.

A female figure inside a back or sack, dragging it around her one hand and her head protruding. It was made by a master (in kanji-signs 花楽 or 花樂).

The piece is fine decorated overall and delicately signed below. Very beautiful workmanship and among the finest of the period, really.

A fine pair of matching square bowls on raised foot. Decoration: the inside, in the centre a gold takamaki-e medalion with a raised design of a couple of Reshiki stems in shakudo and hirame, on red ground, rim decorated with cloud pattern in gold on red lacquer. Outside decoration with 4 pair clams each of which has been embellished with different type of decoration ( dragon flies, birds, thatched house and tree, brushes, etc ) in togidashi-e and nahiji and takamaki-e on a black roiro gro...

An antique Japanese Kutani sleeping cat known as Nemuri Neko that was hand made and hand painted. Delicate free-form feathered gold lattice pattern decorating its back with a persimmon colored collar around its neck. Peaceful somber face displaying a calm dream-like state as time and the world around it passes by. Fine details include its defined toes and claws of its right front foot and its rear left paw that is peeking from under its upward curled tail.
