An oval Thewa pendant from Rajasthan in northern India. Thewa is the technique invented around 400 years ago where filigree gold designs are fused onto a coloured glass ground, then backed with silver foil. This pendant depicts prey being attacked in what looks like a palace garden. The work is very fine and I have had to show the photographs oversize to show the detail...

Chinese horizontal panel carving with red lacquer and gilt accenting. A strong central figure stands with a person kneeling before him, and two heavenly figures on horseback to either side. An Indian stone surahi expertly turned on a lathe from a single piece of black steatite, a variety of soapstone. It is beautifully made and very light, displaying the remarkable hollowing performed by the artisan. It relates directly to bronze and brass versions from the 18th century. With this flask is a turned alabaster bowl, also elegantly made, that has a curious slightly domed bottom. The bowl perhaps dates from the 19th century...

A rare Luristan bronze mace head. The upper body with a segmented swelling, bordered by bands, interesting large discus at each end, makes it a very rare type.

Spectacular 19th Century miniature Buddha's Throne from Mandalay, Burma. Elaborately hand carved wood with finest gilding inlaid with countless cabochons and colored mirror pieces. This throne/altar also has 2 fine angels as well a pair of beautifully carved Royal Peacocks on top. Very good condition. Size: H. 34" x W. 16" x D. 11.5" (87 cm x 40 cm. x 29 cm.). Antique Japanese small choba tansu (merchant chest) made with attractive keyaki (elm) burl front panels in a reddish brown lacquer finish. The style of handles on each drawer is called "mokko" or "melon shape", accented with decorative iron hardware in each corner. The sliding doors in front lock in the center.
